Klark Kent Live? / Sockii's SCopeland website

Postby olivier on 20 Aug 2006 11:37

Yep !
Andy's on guitar, Sting's on bass, Kim Turner's on guitar too, and Florian Pilkington's on drums !
Melvyn Milquetoast (Miles Copeland) was backstage argueing with a guy of the BBC, who wasn't agree that Klark Kent and his band wore these masks (Miles too was wearing this mask !).
This funny scene is related in "A Visual Documentary" by Miles, 1978 July page !

Mrs. Gradenko,

You don't wanna mess with Dietmar. If he says Sting was wearing blue underwear and had a headache on January 12th 1978, you can believe it's true!

Check this out...

Stewart had the 7" Don't Care out in the summer of 1978.
The single was well received and people were interested in this enigma.
The single was first released on Kryptone records and then soon afterwards on A&M records.
on August 12, 1978 the identity of Klark Kent was revealed in UK music papers. probably because the TOTP show was already recorded and people recognized some people from the "band"...

Police songs

Postby giovanni on 24 Aug 2006 19:07

...and for what I know, some of those tracks were written from Stewart for his new band and project named The Police .... I can imagine some of this tracks played by The Police.

You know what? Those tracks sounds good as nowadays rock release, with such an energy and technical presence...
Stewart told me he wrote them 'cause he was almost starving, he needed to have something to release and get some money out of it...his new band wasn't exactly getting paid...
...at that time....

Outrageous! Scary Stew in green greasepaint! Yikes! Sounds like they (or just Stewart) prerecorded the song, then lip-sync'd it live. I like the fast tempo - much punkier.
