Yes I have the demo (not the Strontium 90 version). It sounds different to me. I think they started from scratch on it. Stings demos are lifeless and flat. The Police version is faster and bouncier...but I admit they sound very similiar! I'm open to being wrong! But I'm pretty sure.
That's not the demo I'm referring to. He made a new demo with Jean Roussel in Canada, brought it to Montserrat and had Stewart and Andy overdub onto it. I'll look for that link...

Enjoy!
Stewart vs. the brass group! It looks like he wanted to blew them off stage with his drumming ... that whole setup there is so so wrong ...
I would almost say the 2007 set is more Police then the Ghost and Sync tour combined - for Stewart at least ...
Yeah, after hearing it again it's not so great. Stewart's playing his ass off, but the horns...ugh, the horns. I NEVER liked the addition of the horn section.

No, I know that wasn't the one you meant, you mean from the Ghost sessions boot right?

I was just discounting the Strontium version....

Wait a second, sjourney ranch...Isn't it Sting overdubbing all the saxophone parts in the demo? Stewart seems to hint at that when he talks about the Montserrat GITM period.

Yes, the Ghost sessions boot. Okay, that explains the confusion.

Cheers.

I think ELTSDIM is the only demo that was turned into a commercial recording. Upon listening to the other demos, they were quite lifeless and it sounds obvious that the other tunes were newly cut.

Yeah...Sting on Sax. The 4th musician that Andy resented in his book was Roussel on Piano.

It's only in recent years that I've gotten access to some of the studio/early versions of Police/Sting songs, mostly thanks to the net of course, but I'm still amazed at just how much *really* early Sting songs were made into Police (and Sting) material. Hearing demos from Last Exit, and then seeing how they got used months (and years) later, some of their structure practically unchanged.
