I have a groovy video up on photobucket and when I try to make that my avatar it says url not valid

any hints video avatar gods?????

Yep, animated gifs. I don't think videos would work. I use GifBuilder which is a (pretty ancient) Mac shareware program, I'm sure there are more tech savvy solutions out there for the less terminally lazy than me...

I used FantaMorph 3 for my current one, though I've used Animated GIF Producer in the past.

(it makes more sense if you saw the bloody video which is of 2 of my 3 girls spazzing unabashedly and unencouraged to DDDD in the backseat of my car while going thru the car wash- the toddler is especially hilarious.

I agree with everyone here about the animated gifs. A good tip is too not make the video too long (no more than 4 secs), because loading huge animated gifs over dial-up is awful. Also, if there is the option on the program you use to make these GIFs, set the framerate down to 10fps. By doing that, the gif will have the correct speed and not look like a slow-mo video. Finally, make the width of the image less than 150 pixels so that the file size isn't outrageous. Have fun! :wink:

I had to really crank down the framerate & size for my current one, in order to keep it small enough for imageshack, as well as not taxing non-highspeed users too much. I think it came to around 700kb, which is still large, but going less kinda defeated what I wanted.

The original one is about 1.6MB...and looks so sweet!

I'm still working on a "Stewart Through The Years" one, but it's going to be a week before I can get to it. I'm going to keep the transition/framerate down in order to include more face images of Stewart, but I fear it will still be large gif file.

I use Photoshop for gifs. It generally won't let me go over 19 frames per image, unless i make 'em very small. My preferred running speed is usually 5 frames per second, so i can get a slightly longer sequence captured.
