...have "the privilege" to see and listen to a change in the set list?

Come on boys, you won´t be playing the same set list all the tour, will you? It would be boring even for you...

Are you guys actually out of your bloody minds???
This is not the "Police Online Tour to satsfy some nerdy fans that hang out in forums all day long" ...
I want to listen to the exact same songs that are on the setlist now when they hit Europe - it is not the Greatful dead with Zillions of Songs - it is THE POLICE with five albums and only so many hits.
Did you really believe they plan to perform On any other day or PEANUTS????? And you think they are going to skip "Every little thing she does" - with a few hundred couples in the ordience who came to just listen to "their song" ...

A few hours ago I said here I won't look anymore but someone who counts in this forum asked me to stay - probably because it is so funny to see me hit the ceiling

Get a life - and I have news for you: you are not a member of The Police, you don't own the band. You are not fans you are a bunch of stalkers!

AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Stu in case you read this - I saw on youtube today that your arms are not in Sync right after you hit the Gong and raise your fists - you need to work on this ... if you don't I sell all my tickets and start a Blog about you!

as you say "mein freund" they did 5 albums in 5 years of life time. Incredible.
Now as arrogant as they are, we have the right to ask for a sixth album. Even if you think 23 years was not enough to do it.

(sorry for your ceiling)

I appreciate your passion Philip, but I'm sorry- we have no "right."
Call me a simple man, but I like to look at it this way...
our favorite drummer is back with The Police playing amazing songs we all love - and here's the best part- we can go see it!
Whatever happens outside of the tour is icing as they say.

I don't think we have a "right" to ask for a new album...but anyone who buys a ticket (expensive as they are) has a right to expect the band's best effort. That should go without saying.

As for the set list...yep, there are some songs that would be good to hear. I'm sure they could work up at least a few to substitute. The slots currently occupied by "Murder by Numbers", "Walking in Your Footsteps" and "Invisible Sun" could be flexible.

I'm thinking this gong thing (as awesome as it is) is going to bite him in the ass. At least it's bigger than Neil Peart's.

in my opinion we fans have the right to demand (or better: wish for)anything

THE POLICE give us a tour no one expected and that's just great. I would see them even if they didn't play any song I really love. But we also made them the rich people that they are, so we can also express wishes (which don't have to be fulfilled, of course).

I still love the POLICE very much, but I'm also still very critical. Listening to Andy's guitar intro in Oakland's MESSAGE - can't we demand that he practises it at least a BIT? Didn't hear so many wrong notes in a long time...

The POLICE will do other songs eventually - I'm not demanding but hoping for BRING ON THE NIGHT or DEATHWISH. And I guess I'll listen to at least one of those two in Europe.

Nup. You've missed the point, completely. It's going to be far more exciting for fans the world round if even two song spots are used for different material throughout the tour. It's not a big ask and would give the band further credibility, ie, would offer evidence that they are not determined to stick to one set of songs for 12 months like old women.

You're presuming there is a more finite amount of material for the band to select from which would be 'known' to fans around the world. Ahem.

http://www.policesetlist.com/results.shtml

...and have you completely missed the number of 'Bring on the Night' threads here? You think it would be better to have, say 'Truth Hits Everybody 2007' in place of 'Bring on the Night' (as an example) .... for the whole tour?

The one flaw in the Police's last few tours, the one single flaw, was that they stuck to one bloody setlist 99% of the time. Now, in the digital age, they must know that most of the shows this year will be heard by fans around the world. It would be demonstrative of insight into this technological wonderland of the new millennium for them to throw a curve ball in there occasionally. They're into their toys enough to use tacky backing samples and autotuned backing vocals. They would do well to recognise that one show = instant unauthorised live album in this day and age.

You're whining about us fans wanting to have some fresh material in the set?

Cripes. You're at a forum for Copeland / Police fans. What did you expect?

Well if that is what Police fans are like I'd say I am looking forward to Stewart Copeland the Solo Artist after this Tour.

LOL... if you are *still* shaking your head in dismay because we'd like a couple of songs to change here and there, after reading all the arguments in favour of this, then please, go somewhere else! Seriously, you are in the extreme minority if you would rather them repeat the same set for the next 8 months.

Guess who else agrees? You gonna tut-tut-tut and shake your head in dismay about what Stew has got to say as well?

"Copeland is trying to help Sting and Summers understand that the hardcore Police fans will be coming to more than one show on the reunion tour, and, as such, will be expecting the set list to change regularly.

"We've got a fairly rehearsed set," he said. "[But] those people who bought most of the tickets for most of the shows are not normal people. They're like the people who bought all the Oysterhead tickets because of Trey [Anastasio]. Those type of people, I think, buy more than one show. I'm trying to get that through to my buddies so that we change it up a little bit." "
