Al Gore 'Live Earth' Gig Causes Controversy In Congress
Former Vice President Al Gore's forthcoming Live Earth gig is causing controversy in the Congress, after several politicians claimed the event was too left-wing to be on Capitol grounds. Democrat Gore is planning a series of Live Earth concerts across seven continents to raise awareness of global warming and has signed The Police, Kanye West, Faith Hill, Bon Jovi and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform on the steps of Washington D.C.'s Capitol Building on July 7.
Republican James Inhofe is against the gig, with his spokesman Marc Morano saying, "Senator Inhofe objects to having any events on the Capitol grounds that are either highly partisan or politically controversial - and the proposed Gore concert is both."
Morano said several politicians had made formal moves to ban the concert from taking place.
