The Letter I wrote to Stewart...READ ME STEWART..

Dear Paola and hopefully Stewart,

First and foremost let me say that I believe in fate and dreams, and the Police getting back together falls into both categories for me...Let me explain...

Before I was even born my father and mother were HUGE Police fans, I even attended a show while I was inside my mother, back in 84' in Syracuse, NY. This obsession continued a few years after my birth, and unfortunately the Police were broken up by then, but I can remember being either 4 or 5 and listening to Synchronicity on my brothers Walkman in the living room and jamming out. It continued further into my life, even when everyone was listening to bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam I was still listening to the Police. And as most other American families my parents split when I was young and I could only visit my father every other weekend. During the time that I spent with my father it seemed that we only listened to the Police, whether it was in the car or at home when we were just hanging out doing what fathers and sons do. I remember asking him so many questions about the Police (this was pre-internet) and who the men were behind the music. He used to tell me so many stories about the concerts that he went to and enjoyed...

So years go by and my father unexpectedly died when I was only 13. I was devastated, lost and alone. My mother had to raise me and the only thing that I had was memories and the music that we shared in happier times. This experience made me grow up a lot faster than normal kids my age. I had to be my own man and take responsibility at an early age. Anyways, the music has always been there for me. I could throw on one of the Police discs that I had and could remember where I was and what I was doing with my father during each track. The first time I listened to the Polce after he died, I cried for a while. I'm not sure if those were tears of sadness or happiness remembering the things we did together.

So during those years I did the things that kids did at that age. I worked at a grocery store, went to high school then college. During college and working together is where I met Christine. From the day I met her I knew that I was going to marry her. Its a feeling that cant be matched to this day (maybe when I have kids). But the more that I had gotten to know her the more I fell in love with her. During those months of finding out who she really is she explained to me that we had something in common. She also had lost someone that was close to her at an early age, her mother. Ever since that day, January 28th 2003, we have been together and we couldn't be happier. We have shared endless hours of the Police and she loves you guys, along with me discovering Klark Kent and her getting annoyed with me playing out that CD. So your probably wondering where the Police come into play in this story, so ill explain..

I promised her that when the day came that I was going to propose to her was going to be special, not only because I think it should but because I'm not going to get married again after what happened to my parents. So I've been thinking for the last year what I could do that would be so special and unique that she would be so surprised and blown away. This is where fate comes in.

Rumors were flying all around about how the Police were getting back together and they might tour..I was thinking, NO WAY!..this is it..I have to get to a show and somehow get to the guys and have them play a part in this..Its just something that I have been thinking about non-stop since the tour was announced.

I had a dream about a day or two after the Grammy's and the rehearsal at the Whiskey that I did it. I not only got to meet my heroes, but got to propose to the girl of my dreams in front of them. It was so real, we got to meet you guys back stage and then we were in the front row and Sting looked down before a song at Christine as said..

"Christine, would you marry Andrew?"...

Like I said above I believe in dreams and fate. I'm not a rich spoiled kid who's daddy has connections or a stalker in disguise. I'm a Police fan for life, who just wants to meet his heroes and have them be a part of his life for 5 minutes like I have been a fan for my whole life..

I don't know if you will get this or not Stewart, but if you do you can at least hear my story and I'll at least know that I gave it a shot. You guys have been there for me in the absence of my father and I thank you for the music, memories and hopefully many more to come..

I also attached a photo of me and Christine so you can see how happy and normal we really are. Please give some consideration to my story and request and hopefully dreams can come true, at least for one fan...

So, I sent this letter to Paola the main contact for Stewarts website and she replied:

Dear Andrew,

I've read your story with interest and I'm happy to meet HUGE Police fans considerably younger than me! :-)
Unfortunately I can't help you with your request. The Police tour is such an enormous event that rules are terribly rigid and strict, also for the members of their website staff! :-(
I'm sure you and Christine will enjoy the show.

My best wishes,

Paola[/img]

What a sweet story! Thanks for sharing. It's awesome that you met on my birthday! Is it me or does Christine bear a striking resemblance to Stewart's wife Fiona?

Hey Andrew, that is a hell of a story. Sorry for both of your loses. I am a huge long-time fan too! My wife and I are eagerly awaiting the launch of the world tour from Vancouver. They were last here in 1983 and I wasn't able to make it to that concert. Now they are rehearsing right down the road from my house; after all these years it is quite ironic. I just about drove off the road when I heard the world tour was verified. I hope you and yours are able to make it to one of the shows. :D
