UK premiere of Gamelan D'Drum July 5, 2012

I saw this on a visit to Stewart's music publisher:

05 JUL 2012
- Gamelan D'Drum UK Premiere
Royal College of Music, London
RCM Percussion and Orchestra

I wasn't one of the lucky 5 or so Nutters to see the premiere in Dallas last year, but have listened to it dozens of times. This is my all time favorite Stewart-composed piece now.

So I hope the London area Nutters and others can attend this.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

I have a feeling it's no coincidence that this one is in the middle of summer.

It's the middle of an English summer l-v. We won't need a sled but kayaks may be required.

Thanks for spotting this njperry. It's not listed on the RCM website yet, but it's in the diary!

Crap. It's two days before I have good tix to see Ringo on his birthday, which means special guests, at the Ryman. Hopefully Stewart understands that one of the only people who can keep me from his shows is an actual Beatle. 8^)

If I hadn't had so much problems with my internet connection lately, I would have said this much sooner: GO! All you UK folks, GO! All you frequent flyers from elsewhere, GO! Anyone who can, GO! You won't regret it.
As for me, I'll have to bask in the secondhand gamelan joy this time around. I'll be busy taking a summer course or two by then.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

Well damn, that's seriously tempting too - and potentially more affordable than another trip to the UK this year!
