THANK YOU FROM GIOVANNI

Postby sun on 16 Feb 2007 09:00

It's a shame that it took me so long to discover this site/board.
I'm a complete newbie here but I like the atmosphere in this board and would like to thank the people who run this site - you're doing a great job! :)
Gio you did and still doing so well with this site...

Thank you very much for everything.

I felt very angry with my Italian exhubby, and also with all Italy. But since I found your site, and I wrote you and you wrote me back the very first time, and you put my first post to Stewart in your old SC official site, I began the process to reconciliate with Italy at first, and now I am not angry anymore with my exhubby.

Don't you think is The Police's magic?

I do, and they are back.

Is magic, magic, magic...

Awww Georgy, that's such a sweet story! And Gio - see how much everyone loves you and Eugenio and the others? You should be feeling very proud and popular right now!

I am

Postby giovanni on 16 Feb 2007 12:56

I am, and I really think this is too much....really.

I still have to log in on the discussions at TPT.com, I haven't enough time, but I will do this week-end and try to understand why such a negative feedback; I love that site, I guess everything is about presales; I'll see if there is something I can do (I doubt) but I guess sometimes some kind of problems are inevitable due to the circumstances of such a big issue like a POLICE reunion; it would be impossible to have everybody happy with an event like this one.

Gio, unfortunately there always seems to be some folks who like nothing more than to complain and cause trouble. I guess it's just inevitable that at such a momentous moment as this, they're all going to come out of the woodwork. We're lucky here that the discussion on the subject has been mostly very reasonable, even if there's a lot of disappointment. I'm not surprised -- and am sort of glad, really -- that the bulk of the nastiness is being confined to tpt.com because I can just avoid it then and stick with being thrilled about everything else that's happening.

I'm not saying that I don't think there is justifiable concern over the way the presales are being conducted and the fan club itself...I guess I'm just too cynical to have really expected much of anything better than that so I'm not letting it get me too worked up. I know I'll get to the shows I want to get to; I know I'm not likely to get the best seats (because everyone wants them, after all!), certainly not every time, and I'll probably have to pay a major premium to do so at some point. That's the name of the game these days. No one forced anyone to join the club, after all, and there's plenty of time and plenty of shows yet to be announced for people to watch and see what happens before deciding if it's worth it to them to join.

I also find myself concerned that we've always enjoyed the interaction Stewart's had with us here and knowing that he checks in at least from time to time to see what's on our minds and our thoughts on his current projects. I'd hate to see things just become a bitch fest here to his eyes as well, like all we care about right now is money and tickets and not the thrill of the simple fact that the Police are back on the beat.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on. Gio, you've certainly got your work ahead of you right now and just know we all appreciate everything you do for us!

Totally agree with Sockii - as I've said elsewhere, unfortunately teething problems were almost inevitable.

Looking on from the UK, and I maybe barking up the wrong tree, but one of the main problems seems to have been the Bestbuy factor and the deal made with them to get in on the act.

Time will tell if that scenario will happen over here in Europe - but luckily it doesn't tend to normally.

Having said that, there isn't usually as big a tour as this one - and with that, the interest it generates.

Glad to see that everyone here is keeping it together though - the TPT site seems to be a bit of a bunfight at the moment!

Gio- it's a great vibe here, I think we appreciate Stewart a great deal more, I don't know if that's necesarily true for everyone, but for me as kid- I was a huge Andy fan but the whole while I've been a supressed drummer, banging on cardboard boxes etc.- so I've grown to appreciate Stewart the most; his drumming is conversational to the song and thus far exceeds the standard backbeat mantality- though other drummers try, they deem to be "busy"; where Stew has the perfect balance of structure and musicality- I'm going to shut up now- but as a musician I give this forum a huge praise- very cool peeps

Gio,

The site has come along way since the old stewartcopeland.it days.

I bet you never thought this would all happen back then.

You have a great team working with you ( Eugenio & LadyP and anybody else I have missed)

I still can't believe that Stewart interacts on the forums sends blogs and then asks us for input. Truely amazing.

And what can I say of the members here, it's like an extended family. Differing opinions don't get out of hand and become full on flame wars.

Thank you Gio & the sc.net team be very proud of the site you have put together.

The best part of that site now is that people are realizing their tickets are actually decent.

I'm happy I found this board when I did... and met the people when I did.

Not to mention, who talks about Copeland this much but us? That is cool.

We're all here because we love the music. I suspect a lot of the whiners on the other site are scalpers or U2 fans. Once this presale mess is over with they will disappear and we can claim that site in the name of the United States of Copeland, lol.

FYI, over on Stink.com, they've taken to referring to the Police site as the "dark side", lol.

I am totally agree that SC site is so cool... and as you see the forum is like a big family of Policemaniacs as me... for expressing our desires and dreams about our lovely band.

On the other hand, I want to admit that I´m only devoted to a triangle that means THE POLICE (one each angle means for me Andy, Stewart and Sting in total equity)

(dies laughing)

One thing I did get to say to Stewart in the split second in which I met him the other day was, 'thanks for everything.' One of the coolest things about being an admirer is YOU guys...makes being 16 years old again a ton more fun. Helps that he makes great music and is hilarious, but he's also got the best fans of all!!

*bumping* a little bit early for the 5-year (oh god) anniversary...but because I wanted to say THANK YOU again to Gio for everything he's done for us all on this site. And that the sentiments expressed then are the same that I would express today.

(One of the 4 there that day thanks to Gio & Sc.Net...)
