Read in a french magazine...

This magazine, a french "intelligent" TV program, with good articles about cinema, books, music, arts, society, TV... is called Telerama.
In the last number, I read this short news item, which I try to translate as faithfully as possible:

"Police Assistance.
The prospect of new elections in USA has encouraged the radical rock band Rage Against The Machine to continue his militant and subversive service.
For Sting, it's rather the attraction of a 100 million dollars check which has convinced him to join up with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers for a tour with The Police.
Everyone has his own motivations."

For sure this tour (if tour it will be !) will represent a large sumn of money... now to thing this check is the carrot which make the donkey moving forward... maybe it's true, maybe I'm too naive to think the opposite.
Sting has enough money now, but in a way, money calls money, so...

Sting doing it for the money? It's strongly possible... But with popularity, it's probably the first motivation for any rock band. It doesn't shock me that much as long as the music will be good.

This said, to my opinion Telerama is in decline for some years now and the articles are not as well documented as before. You probably noticed that since the previous editor in chief was fired, the editorials were not even signed anymore these last times. The problem is now solved: there is no more editorial. I also noticed that the column, as well as the short "article" you mention, isn't even signed. It's not the way I see journalism. I think Telerama writers are doing it for the money!

returns might come into play.

I hope they are touring because it will be so cool, and we really
want it. They are doing it for us.

I can't think of another band I want to see more, and I've seen the Cramps :)
