How many people have seen The Police and if not, why?

Just a poll to see how many people had the great pleasure of seeing The Police in concert before they broke up.

I saw them once. And that was never enough for me.

I didn't become a fan until around '86, too late to see them together. Woe.

What kills me is my boyfriend gets to constantly tease me about having seem them *three times* - once on their very first U.S. tour, no less (at Grendel's Lair in Philly, 1978...)

Sockii, is your brother a member of this forum? I would like to ridicule him for being so fortunate.

Boyfriend, not brother (fortunately!) And no, he isn't, but if he's with me at any Police shows this summer (hopefully), you have my full permission to do so in person.

OOPS. Where did I get brother from?? Maybe because I just got an email from mine today.

And thank you in advance for that permission.

Had to go with the last selection. I was born in '69 so i was only 13/14 when synchronicity came out, but i have to say i wasnt a fan of that album when it was big (probably had something to do with hearing Every Breath 18 million times on the radio that year). I really liked GitM, I remember hearing that for the first time at baseball practice when one of the guys on the team brought his Panasonic boombox and played the tape. I didnt really get into them until about 86/87 when I went to college and at that time was (still am) enthralled with Stewart's drumming.

I was like 13 or 14 years old. It was my first rock concert that I ever went to.

Synchronicity tour. November 1983, Dallas, TX. Reunion Arena.

I had been listening to them for at least 2 - 3 years before I saw them. I was just too young to go then.

I have seen Sting about 3 - 4 times since then. Never seen Andy or Stewart since the Police days.

Aw man...this story is still pretty painful for me, even though it happened 20+ years ago.

I have a 7+ years older sibling, and thanks to him I grew up with better-than-average taste in music...;) Got my first Police material in 7th grade or so (crappy cassette copy of Outlandos b/w Regatta...I still have it), and can honestly say I've been a fan pretty well as long as I can remember.

So it was a big deal when The Police *finally* played the middle of nowhere town where I grew up (in Kansas) in 1983. ALL my friends had tickets. That was the week (aggh!) my parents picked for a ski vacation and they *would not* let me stay home and go to the show. I was too young to drive, and cool sibling was living in another state by then, so going to another concert was out of the question.

I did see Sting in 1988 (wasn't the same) and Stewart in Oysterhead this past year...

my story is so sad... I never see THE POLICE in my life because I live many miles away into the distance for any great rock bands... normally PERU wasn't a place for any big rock bands, in spite of the fact we have an interesting local rock history since the 60's ( with some phsycodelic bands - I know two of them were edited in UK as CD's in the middle of the nineties)... is a tragedy for us see big names like Rolling Stones, U2, Coldplay, REM, The Police, Queen, Rod Stewart, etc... making shows in some South American countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile or Venezuela... but nobody as those bands came to my country... We have great stadiums, amphitheaters, arenas, light and sound up to date technology... and one of the most importants landscapes of South America to be an interesting place for any band... besides a liberal econommy and for instance a good place for foreign investors... and the most important is that THE POLICE have a great recognition in my country since 1979 when "Roxanne" ( red version) video was elected the video clip of the year by a peruvian TV Programm of Rock Video clips ( years before MTV starts) For me would be an amazing dream if THE POLICE choose PERU as the representative country of the andean region of south america to make a gig for their forthcoming 2007 reunion tour.
( as I read in "The Police File #7" they planned to came Peru in 1980 )

I have two possibilities to see THE POLICE:

1. Pray a lot to came to PERU
2. Spend a lot of money in visa, air tickets, hotel and concert tickets overseas ( as you see me in my avatar of 2003 in Salzbourg Austria)

With hope.

I had the ticket but as I was too young to drive or to go alone there (too far), it was the father of a friend of mine who was to bring us with another friend. The car broke up just that day, or maybe the day before, can't remember.
I don't know what happened to that ticket, but it seems I lost it for many years!
It was the Synchronicity Tour, 1983, and it was one of the last dates The Police did in France (no show in 1984), at the Arènes de Fréjus.
IF they come back around, I think I'll check my car first and will be there early in the morning!
