This is clearly not a released track at all.
Why the kid gloves around this stuff?
I think that the point is that they few that are in possession of it, would like to keep it a rare recording.
Which is the antithesis of the "information age" we're in. I think it's pretty niave to imagine that you can prevent access to media like music that's so easily converted and distributable. If people want it, they're gonna get it.
I have no idea what Craig's issue with this track is - EQ suggested it has something to do with the boxset he's been working on, but why providing us with a few details would impact that project is beyond me. It's not as if I won't be buying the thing just because I know about this track!

Until this track is released it is free to share.
Those who think this track is off limits should give back the Sting Ghost demos which contain released elements...as well as Synch rehearsals which are as released as this gem.

lets work to liberate more of this stuff...
ok, ok, everyone calm down. it's getting a little too close to the usual elitist trading bullshit that means only a few special people have access to rarities and never share them with the rest of us.

JMRL, THANKS for posting! which blog is this from? i think we should try and track down a lossless version. in fact whomever originally shared this needs a slap on the wrist for converting such a rarity to mp3 in the first place. everyone these days can easily download FLAC or SHN files. what's more, they saw fit to use 128kbps - absolutely unforgiveable. sounds shocking. It's just wrong that the only version we have of this track has been mp3-squished to absolute death. listen to those cymbals - squish, squish! so now i suppose only the elite traders get to have the lossless version... :)

Craig, hows about letting us know when this was recorded? Details? Cheers.

I know all about this session and I would like to know who you got this track from please?

Craig
Craig: I have no idea where it came from. I have no inside contact or something like that. I downloaded it from a blog. But I do not have any info of where it came from. I am sorry if this was something that should not be posted here but I was just trying to share a rarity that is not very common to find from the boys. I will edit the post and delete the link if you think so.

I am ALL for liberating rarities. Anyone who follows this forum closely knows how liberal I am at sharing recordings. HOWEVER, there is a box set coming out this September. I am not sure this track will be included in the box set. But based on Craig's reaction, I suspected that this was a track scheduled to be included. Hence my reaction. Obviously, a box set will have a less attractiveness if its rarities are not actually all that rare. So if this track was set to be released soon, I can understand why people in the Police camp would get up.

Also, Craig has shared a ton of great inside info with us in the past (the very recent past). Maybe someone paid some good money to obtain the copyright/publishing rights. I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt as to whether there is a legitimate reason he would not want this circulated. Of course, he might not be all that upset that this is being shared and just curious how this track got out. I don't know.

Secondly, I ABSOLUTELY would like some of whatever they were smoking as well. sounds like GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD shit.

OK
I have listened very closely with headphones as many of you have and here it is:

This is 2007 Vancouver rehearsal
Here is why....

1 Stewart's Kit and voice when he says 'Fucking Incredible" at 2:43
2 Stings voice variations (very soul cages)
3 The song picks up pace like WTWIRDYMTBOWSA 2007 (an alternate show piece early on?)
4 Echo and ambiance is the same as the TPT snippets
5 they are enjoying each others company!!!

You add 6 through 10, but I believe this is Vancouver 2007.....Craig? If you know, add something please!

The voice sounds like 1978...no way is that Sting today.

I respect, but I dont agree.
Listen even to the 83 remix and sting is singing his ass off
On this he is not only keeping it low key, he is missing the first part of the chorus as if he hasn't performed it in a while (and he hasn't. No sting solo show has this song)

Plus, listen to Copeland's kit.
The Octagons are there.
He did not have those in 78.

I hate to mention it, but Andy's terrible Fender Custom Shop tone.

I believe this is 2007.
I have been wrong before.

Thanks for your post

it's not 2007, unless sting practically took a bath in his throat spray before the session.
i doubt sting could hit the high note at 1'09 as crisply as that today.
there's hardly any huskiness to his voice at all.

also, he's using a pick, and running his bass through a little bit of chorus or something. i'd say it's around 1983, but until craig lets us in on the details i'll reserve my guesses!

the arrangement in the 2nd half is quite similar to the slow version they did live in 1980.

if this was for tourzilla rehearsals and they had just started running through songs again; it could explains stew's comment ("that was fucking amazing") 'cos frankly the tune itself isn't that amazing up to that point; unless it was the first time they'd run through it for 25 years.... and if it was the start of tourzilla then gordo may have been in full use of his range?

What cracks me up is how people get so dam greedy about non released tracks as if they have a pot of gold...dam quit being meizers and share the wealth man. We are the people that made them what they are did you forget that slight detail?

Cause the fact of the matter is, many people on this board were avid Police fans while some you were still in diapers.

And just because some of us live in the states we are not privy to all the boot stuff that cycles in other countries. Which is ridiculous because if it were not for the buying market of America you would not have your horded trinkets!!!!

So you people who continue with your obsession about not wanting to share with your mates. You know what you can do lol...pathetic really pathetic!!!!
and if sometimes i can't seem to talk you know this blackborad lacks a piece of chalk
