Jefe and EQ, Muchos Gracias.

If they are both contiguous, ie, no edits, it should be pretty easy to synch them.
I have about 5 available gigs of Hard Drive space, and a barely workable dime ratio, or I'd try it myself.

Tell me if you think I'm crazy, but, this would be my strategy:

I think the best approach is to open the DVD in a video editor that supports multiple audio channels.
Pan the DVD audio all the way Left.
Import the new Audio, and Pan it right.

Find the beginning of the first song: Message, and find the first Snare hit by stewart. ON the file I currently have, this is about 25 seconds into the first song file.

I'd line 'em up roughly by ear (the left and right will help you keep straight which audio is which) and then go in and zoom on the snare hit, and line that up visually in the audio editor.

once I got that lined up, I'd watch the first song with the new Audio.

And then I would pray that the audio and video are contiguous, or I would have repeat this process, to line up each song separately. I can't think of any better way to do it than lining up snare hits. They are the most visually identifiable and visually precise things you will see in the editor.

Anybody else got suggestions?

Dan,

I suspect that being able to do the synch is not the problem. The problem is finding someone with the rare combination of (1) the proper software and (2) the time to do this.

So, who has the software and the time?

EQ,
I just figured there are lots of audio/video folks on this board. They may have the knowhow. There may be others on this site who have the time.

I myself, have practically zero video experience, aside from the two joke ads on my teaching site. Here's one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTVVv6Aane4

So I was just hoping to get any helpful tidbits so that I might take a stab when Groovie Gets the Audio on Giga, or what have you. I have the time, before December anyhow...

I must confess, however, I'm not exactly eager to watch Police concerts right now, let alone sit for hours and edit them. More to the point, I will have to find the DVD that I am 100% sure Jefe gave me of JB2.... It's been kind of chaotic, some things got lost this last 6 months or so. Suck-tastic.

But, who knows, maybe it'll be cathartic.

Now, to find the DVD....

Dan - yes, that's about the only way to synch things up - look for the visual and match it up. There are a few more issues to watch for - like is the speed exactly the same on the two sources. Not as big of a deal as it was with older cassette based recordings, but still something to watch for. Disk space is also nice ... I'm in no danger there. 3 external 1TB to go along with the 1TB in my computer. MOre than enough space to play around with things.

The sound is good and worth the upgrade on this source.

But ditch Gigasize (or Gigacrap as most users seem to call it)
Stop giving them money...they cant seem to figure out the product they sell.

Try mega or send.

I am so upset I gave Giga money
It never worked out for me, but it did for them.
Take care GIGA

Gigasize is it for these links - paid them once at the beginning of the tour and everyone downloading the shows I put out there have kept the account going (for another 3 months). I came "out of retirement" for these simply because the upgrade - especially for JB2 - needs to be passed around.

Mega turned me off by popping up too much crap. Don't condone that for sites - even if you can pay to get rid of them.
