For days now, I've had this nagging feeling inside that, in many ways, the joy is being sucked right out of this thing. And I've been fighting that feeling, because I so much don't want that to be the case. It's been a complicated year in many respects...very exhilarating, for sure...but also fraught with complications both practical and emotional in nature. There's been financial stress, logistical pressures and personal misunderstandings with friends. Most of all, there's been a huge sense of wanting to look out not only for oneself, but also for the community-at-large.

Through all of it, I have tried to resist feeling like a pawn in some corporate ponzi scheme...but it gets harder every day. I don't like to whine. I nearly always see the glass half-full, and just last night I was encouraging a friend to look at the little "mis-steps" about how this whole flag business was handled by TP.com as exactly that...not the evil machinations of a duplicitous corporation, but as little mistakes by folks who are basically well-intentioned.

I know I'm mixing apples and oranges here...flag content in the TP.com dvd alongside the latest announcement of a second Jones Beach Show...and I am well aware I am babbling a bit...suffice to say I'm saddened to feel the shift in feelings from where I was a year ago, and struggling to get back to that place.

Nancy, I know what you mean. Seriously. *sigh* It's sometimes hard to remain in a good mood when there's so much suck in the way things are being handled on the corporate end with all of this.

Thanks, sockii. It's good to know I'm "not alone in feeling alone!"

I feel like a fucking Pavlovian dog, waiting for the next shock to my system...to which I will inevitably respond just as programmed. Sucks, truly.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned.

Just wanted to lighten the mood.

<ducks>

Stewart, I'm thinking by this point you've got a pretty good idea on how that over-reactive Conglomerate of Suck outrage tends to come about. It is what it is. But on the parts that we can somewhat control -- i.e., this flag thing -- I do hope things can right themselves in the end.

(Just wanted to get that in quickly before the gang *really* gets riled.)

Thanks.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Hello there, & thaks DM for many reasons,
I've been reading the topic about the Flag photos requested by TPT.com and as the issue is delicate & I can't completely understand the sentences ( language problem),
I didn't dare to post here, but just one phrase of Phaty kept ringing inside my head and I just want this phantom to ring outside;

>>>Phaty: Stewart: Stewart Copeland here - I have a flag Sting doesn't - what can I do for you ... ! <<<

So, I feel the Flag-affair in the DVD itself is good thing, fantastic thing, even if I'm not a legacy member to receive it.
( The way they=organizers without face--- handle the matter was.......kinda arrogant? should I say ? )

DM>>> And hell, nothing is stopping anyone who wants to from submitting flag-related photos. That is their right and their business, and I don't have to agree; that decision is theirs. <<<

Hearing these words from DM makes me "relax back into my lairs",
I hope that if there are some (or many) people who's willing to send photos to TPT, they feel free to do it (with some precautions !! thanks to these discussions !),
because there has been a little bit stiff air around here, and because I might send some photos---second best ones ( the best one saved for S.C.book)--- if I were a Legacy Member.

What a Phenomenon Flaggy is !

We call it "fun suckage" at our house. They're sucking our fun, dammit!

And Nancy, I feel the same way. This is supposed to be FUN!

NR, don't do that to yourself, don't make it too 'heavy', too important. Please keep enjoying everything that flag brought us! So what if Tp.com wants some pictures? I'm glad that here at SC.net there is a platform where we can talk and discuss about it. I'm glad that DM can express in so many beautiful words the things a lot of us feel about it, but I'm not gonna let them take my fun away!
The flag was and is there. It brought us so much fun, it brought so many people together. It's really really GREAT. I can't imagine that it will not be mentioned on many different occasions, in many different forms. We don't have the power to stop that (even if we wanted that, I don't think any-one would want that, we are much too proud of this green thing).
Keep your eyes on the good things!!!

Hi Maud! I think you may have misunderstood me...I am actually of a mind to share photos with TP.com. I think it is too big a part of this tour to NOT have it included in the official account of this tour...to me it is the most unique and special aspect of the past year!

All I am saying is that I understand how others can feel differently when the corporate powers that be make it clear that they make decisions with little to no regard for the actual, real fans...but just for how many $$$$ they can squeeze from our wallets. Makes me sad to face that reality, but there it is.

Now I'm gonna be bummed if STEWART doesn't breakdance in an Adidas track suit during this final leg.  He's gonna need some gold chains, too.

PEOPLE OF COPELANDIA!

You know the Maestro is now busy preparing for Savannah, and he won't post for other 3 months (at least) or until the end of the tour (and the Police).
He is not computer-bound as most of us. He's a free man.

So, DM, will you ask him at the Q&A in Savannah if he has changed his mind?

I also propose that instead of a Sorry, Stewart thread, the new attire in Savannah be of rags and ashes on our heads. We can lean on canes or walk on our knees like the pilgrims of the word, and ask for His Forgiveness.

I love you all (Stewart please smite me and deliver me from Work Evil)

In an altered state of mind

Thanks, Ucce. I said it in the other thread; I said it here. (Even at 4 am, it's important enough to remember.) Just because I personally don't agree with the submissions situation does not mean that anyone else can't. I can only speak for myself. I encourage others to make their own decisions.

(crying laughing)

Well, you know what? STEWART himself is hardheaded, mouthy, and not prone to enjoy being pushed around, based on what I've gleaned from interviews (and read of him here at SC.net).

Why should he be surprised when his phalanx of fans turns out to be exactly the same?
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

Wow!!! Stay offline for a few days and come back to a (understandibly) crazy world.

Brothers and Sisters, TO HELL WITH THE CORPORATE MACHINE! The fans have existed long before, and will continue to exist long after it's self serving charter is dissolved. When this incredible experience comes to a close and I look back upon the memories I've waited two decades to have, corporate shortcomings will never enter my mind.

Now, as ham-handed as TP's request for fan content was, It seems only natural that they would reference the Flag in their request. Is there any other fan faction worth mentioning? No.

LONG LIVE THE COPELANDIA COLORGUARD!
