Fall Out Vinyl Questions

I recently snagged what I think is an original pressing of the Fall Out single off Ebay. The cover is Black & White/ The record has a red label "Illegal." I paid around $40 for it.

How do I know if it is an original and not a reprint? Is there a way to tell what number it is? I looked on the vinyl but all I can see is the Illegal catalogue number. Nothing but IL001 I think.

Also, Stewart....How many original copies were pressed and then how many were re-issued in the Green sleeves?

And.. how many did you and the guys actually hand pack yourselves?

the first two versions with or without press out center hole seem to be the 1st edition from May 1977.

the other versions (slightly more orange than red) might be a rerun from October 1977

then came green in November 1979
two different blue versions from who knows when
and the very rare orange version probably an Outlandos Fan Club reprint from 1983

Thanks for the link. I found out I have the second edition! The one with the "L" printed larger. SWEEEET!!

I imagine the band only packed the 1st edition themselves. Stewart said they did this. It would be interesting to know which edition they packed themselves and get specifics on that too.

this is a mix of information fro THE POLICE FILE, L'Historia Bandido and Accompanying The Police

so probably 5000 were initially pressed and sold (with the intention of selling 2000 to get even)

these sold out better than expected

so that during 1977 about 5000 more were pressed and sold

with the re-release more than 100.000 were sold

there are no exact numbers for the green and blue and orange ones

the green cover is the most common
blue is much rarer
orange - it is rumoured that only 100 were made - this was probably the bunch that the OUTLANDOS fan club had re-pressed in 1983

mentions that the FALL OUT reissue sold exactly 73.000 items
