The origional's still better. Sting in that tanktop... although they both have a key eliment I like.

Oh and the part where Stewart and Andy are throwing paper balls at Sting, love that. When did they quit smoking in music videos, etc?

And the dorky dancing, ahh hilarious! Stewart got the worst of it, since he couldn't sing or pretend to play the guitar.

Damn, now, I don't know what made me laugh harder today - Stewart's Rhythmatist story or the skiing santas in that video.

Yes, I have it on DVD with some other stuff.
My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

I'm wondering if there's any connection between this video and Stewart's Christmas-themed "Yo Ho Ho" tune. The skiing Santas would make sense in a video for that.

A video for "Bed's Too Big"?! Can you describe the visuals? If this "Don't Stand" video is any indication, it could involve anything from spear fishing to bears on unicycles.

it's the mono version of BED'S
filmed around late December 1979 / early January 1979 for the Kenny Everett show
the POLICE play their instruments in a large house
suddenly lots of models appear and try to grab Sting who seems to be dreaming this...
there's a bed alright!
remember nina carter - page 3 girl / or one of Blonde On Blonde ?
she's in it, too

What you're describing sounds vaguely familiar, Dietmar. I'm familiar with the Kenny Everett Show, as I'm also into Bowie and have seen some really impressive performances done by him there. Hopefully this 'Bed's Too Big' video will make an appearance on YouTube one of these days.

no fault of the police, as 'making a video' was a completely alien topic in those days, but this video is crap. it has f*ck all to do with the song, nor does the context of the entire shoot or location. band still rules though. :D

even as a bright eyed 12 year old in 1981 with MTV still a mostly unheard-of phenomenon, i think i still would have watched this video and thought 'this sucks'.

sorry to cramp the love-fest we always have going on in here but i had to be honest. 8 or 9 beers has brought out the critic in me. :P

i think in the very early days of MTV, this was my favorite video/song

anyone else like this song? it rocked IMO

Oh, those goggles are SEXY! LOL!

I like the version we all know and love better. I just love the look on Andy's face when Sting takes his shirt off, and the perturbed look on Sting's face when Stewart throws the paper at him.

Can't complain about shirtless blonde guys either. :-P
yo!!

Lucky for you I can't find vids of two of mine: "Louise" by Jona Lewie, and "Two Triple Cheese Side Order of Fries" by Commander Cody. There was that one Nazareth video they played endlessly, and the Bangladesh concert w/George Harrison...none of this empty headed supermodel pap you see now. (Not that I'm bitter, but at least we have YouTube :))
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!
