I was just thinking I haven't seen anyone walking around with a personal cd player in a long time.

They are old technology, but not that old to not see them anymore.

I remember last year one kid brought a tape player to listen to, everyone started laughing at him, people can be so cruel. He neverbrought it back or anything else to listen to.

I still buy music as cd's though, but I just use them to rip into my ipod. But I like haveing them as a backup, incase something happens. Plus the art work and all, cd's are just better.

One day kids will be like, "What's this?" And you'll be like, well it's a cd, compact disc. "What did the non-compact ones look like?" Umm well there wasan't one. "Then why are they called compact discs?" Because they're so small. "How much music can fit on it?" Well usually about 12 songs. "Only 12! But what if you wanted to listen to something else?" Well you had to carry your cd case with you.

When I am talking to my high school students....I say..."NO cd players...er..ummm MP3 players......er umm......IPODS in the classroom or whatever the hell it is you kids listen to music on these days!"

The cool thing is my co-worker and I actually brought a turntable in to the classroom. We use it on a daily basis for the music appreciation classes. Surprising enough, many kids now are really into classic rock stuff like Pink Floyd, Stones, Hendrix, and yep...even The Police! So we dig out the vinyl and let it rip!

I don't know about your students, but I can concentrate so much better with music playing. I think it's that it keeps me intertained while I'm reading something boring....like my Economics book.

The Bluesbreakers A Hard Road was the best one to study by, not sure why.

Last year they passed a rule saying that we could listen to them as long as our teacher said it was ok. Before our teachers could get introuble over it, and there were always principals (we had like 5) coming in and out of class.

The only teacher I had that wouldn't let me listen to it was my English teacher.

Am I the only one that thinks 1984 was SO dull?

What grade/ class do you teach?
