~long distance hugs to Shmaff~

Would you be interested in an online wiki where you can add all of these and update it more easily?

I dono, maybe! I'm pretty techno-savvy, but wikis are outside of my realm of experience...can you give me any details? How would it work?

Hmmmm... it would work just like any wiki, you just log in and add or change what you want.

It would take me a few days because I would have to register the domain name (the few days is to make sure it is accessible from where you are... sometimes it only takes a few hours to echo throughout the 'net) and then I can upload the wiki program. Actually, I can upload it right away and you'd have access to it immediately, but under a different URL, so we'd keep that part under wraps until it's accessible.

'Course, this would lighten the load for you considerably, if people could add their own entries. Unless you LIKE doing it this way? I dunno... I'm typically a control freak myself, so I can understand if you would, but when things get busy and ~BIG~ sometimes it's just easier to release it and let others contribute.

Just a thought... :) I love to help, and if I can, please let me! :) Email me if you'd like! :)

Young Frankenstein is a classic. Gene Wilder is great. I loved Madeline Kahn. The father from Everyone Loves Raymong (Peter Boyle) was the monster. Cloris Leachman was great --- "He vas my boyfriend!" "Ovaltine?".

Great, great movie! And I thought Gene Wilder was so cute :P
Wiki
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea. This is a fun thing for us nutters.
Wiki requires more "official" data, i.e. censored and made available to the general public. In the process, I believe fun would be lost.
Wiki can be accessed (and usually ruined) by ANYONE online, even by a 12 year old. This unless they enforce some stricter check and access limitations.

DM and others will work to a Police Wiki (come on sockii's site thread!!!) to which I offered to collaborate.
But this, I guess, would be aimed to add correct information in a more official format, and set the records straight.

Interested in knowing other people's opinion.... 8)

At this point, I agree totally. I don't think it's "big" enough (yet) to warrant an official wiki - and frankly, the anal writer in me DOES actually enjoy doing it this way.

I know you keep saying this TOWOS, but I just don't want to step on anyone's toes - this was "your baby" in its conception, but I'm starting to get a little fond of the job... :)

I certainly don't mind things staying status quo at this point.

Hmmmm... you're right, TOWOS. But if the wiki is on a private domain (ie not this one) and the registrations have to be approved first, would that help in keeping this fun?

I'm just looking to make things easier. Yes, I'm a control freak but I'm also lazy ~grin~ Adding a new entry, by copying and pasting the whole thing, finding the right place alphabetically, plus adding in the n. and v. thing plus the definition, will take out a huge chunk of the time I can spend here. But this might not be for everyone, especially those who can make it more often than I can, and can actually remember all of those terms from grade school English class, which I cannot

Anyway, no worries! :) If there's another wiki on the way, no biggie. I didn't know there was an official wiki coming.

Yep, I'm exausted repeating...I just set the ball rolling! And you SCHMAFF certainly were a major contributor, co-founder, Editor Maximus, so you have :P pant pant every friggin'right to consider this your babes too!!!

All I meant is that people had fun doing this. It is meant to be fun. I am sure that DM's project on sockii's site will actually be full of reliable, proven info.
And yes, THAT is Wiki material. We can contribute if we know extraordinary info-
(This without the possible issues the Wiki might unravel...Could Lue Ann sue us for defamation of character? Does Stewart really want Wiki readers to know what happened after the dinner with his brother? etc. etc.)

ETA: don't mean to squash your idea, Mich. It is just my opinion. When you bring things to the next level, there is a lot of possible issues you have to keep into consideration....

Consider the offer withdrawn :)

I only got to page five of this thread, so I didn't know there was a major project in the works.

Off to gnarl some 3D prims... yum! ~not~

I agree. Alot of these entries won't mean anything to anyone who's not on the forum (ie Holidarian, Deitmar) and I think it would lose it's special Stewartness if it was tossed out to the general public. Even most generic Police fans wouldn't appreciate it.
