NYC Q&A

Still watching the interview - as others mentioned, can't hear what the questioners are asking but the answers are hilarious. And!! Maybe some new respect for Sting, who surely could have put the brakes on this project in a big way. Good for him, and he doesn't look like a jackass in the movie, as Stewart mentioned is the reason he doesn't watch himself on film.

He looks really cool, in fact. Gosh, I miss those days.

Guess what!! SC's working on releasing the derangements...and there'll be 30 extra minutes of footage on the DVD...woohoo!

He says he's been listening to "death metal." Anybody know which bands? Just curious.

Still! He says his advice to aspiring drummers is "get on the mic." Aw man. As though inspiring a legion of devoted fans, and being the best drummer since Ringo isn't good enough. ;) SC goes on to say drumming is "easy"...easy for HIM, maybe!

Maybe he doesn't sell a billion records, but I think it's worth something he's kept his dignity largely intact, more than I can say about whomever's on the Top 40 these days...

35:18: He's listening to bluegrass! Stewart! PLAY NASHVILLE!! You'll have an awesome opening band (Del McCoury? Old Crow Medicine Show? BR549?) and the Ryman is booking rock musicians these days.....

Stewart is so much more fun to listen to then Sting.

When he said shave it down...it would get stuck, was he using an analogy, or being serious?

They, "did a gay".... had to say it.

When did Stewart ever dress weird (not counting the shorty shorts!), or have a funny hair cut? He dressed much better then the other two.

7 kids, me and my sis drive my parents crazy enough... 5 more brothers and sisters? ouch!

All I know is I hope one of his "fifty kids," as he's called the brood, starts up an ass-pounding rock 'n roll band.

OK, I'd settle for even a fair-to-middling rock 'n roll band.

Kim, shoot me an email and you're golden. Oh, and I feel your pain on the NYC Q&A - I just found out Stew was large and in charge at the Bonnaroo ES:TPIO screening, and somehow I missed it. (they didn't put the date or location in the official 'Roo program, and it wasn't in the Manchester, TN paper that printed a daily schedule...tho they did publish a hilarious interview with The Master...)

Major bummer, but I suspect he may wash up on these shores again someday (this being the real Music City - Austin, TX can eat my shorts. ;)

Were shorty shorts really popular for men back then?

I can tell you Stewart talks a lot and a lot and he likes to talk, he goes from funny stories to political issues, from music to art....and if he got time you can go on talking and talking in a very friendly and clever way. Amazing!

Sting doesn't talk that much...he's really shy I can tell; I spent a lot of time with Sting backstage or in hotel in the past 20 years....he's incredibly shy sometimes, and I guess this depends on who's around; but when he opens up he's really a very cool guy; you forget he is Sting and he becomes a different guy (even his voice changes), he's very sweet, looks straight in your eyes when he talks to you and you can go on talking about books, children, life...we never talk that much about music....last time I met him in Montecarlo, backstage, we talked about Trudie movie, about Montecarlo and some more issues I don't remember right now.

I think I already mentioned to you the day we talked about his book a couple of years ago; he was curious to know what I thought about it and I told him that for what I know about him....but he suddenly interrupted me
telling....'well....you know more.....'....
I was a little surprised as before he interrputed me I was just saying that for what I know about him, the book seemed very close to 'Sting-the-guy-I-know, that means ironic, devoted to the music, etc...
He then went on telling...'ah, ok ok...well, my life is totally ironic'...I sincerely don't know what he meant when he said 'you know more...'...or maybe I know....ehehe...

My first impression of Sting (before I even knew who he was) was sitting on the couch with my parents (can't remember when) and watching 'some guy' tell his band what to do. Now I didn't stick around for the music, I was just there to hit up my Dad for money. But from that I thought of him as tough (lol not physically), and hummm how can I say it? He held him self high, like he knew what he was doing, was good at it, and knew it.

Then in interviews he leans back allot, sometimes crosses his arms. That can either be thought of as being shy, or basking in himself (couldn't come up with better wording). He's talented and he knows it, he's hot, and he knows it...

And he does that thing where if he dosen't want to answer something he'll smile, and laugh...just a little, then revert back to the stiff face.

Now that stiff face he uses allot can also be taken differently. Either as shy, or again, holding himself high, confident.

Now Stewart he's lose, definitely confident (as he should be). Usually when people are nervous both feet will be flat on the floor, like they need to balance themselves, while Stewart usually crosses one leg. When nervous they also usually have their hands held down, like they're afraid there going to do something stupid, when their nervous that is... and Stewart talks with his hands, a good portion of our language is body language.

And he acts stuff out, which is kind of an extension of talking with his hands.

And of coarse, as you know he's funny. With all that together, he is more fun to listen to.

I know El Duche is Sting, but what does it mean? The something...

I did not, and I've kind of been watching for it. Try again if you like. volks1wag*at*yahoo.com (replace the *at* with @, of course...)

I'm pretty sure I can convert the vid from MP4 to _ts, which is DVD format...do you need it to play on a TV set w/DVD, or do you have software that can play vid...?

Interesting about the difference between Sting & Stewart. I'd love to have a beer with either of 'em.

This will bring us back to the darkest times of our History:
El Duce was the nickname of Benito Mussolini who was a fascist dictator during the 2nd World War in Italy.

Humour, just humour....
