I have a question about that cover picture from the '79 Pink Pop Festival

Where are Stew's crash cymbals/ride cymbal/octobans?

Methinks that picture is a mockup or doctored somehow.

I tried to order it today in a french famous store (FNAC) but the seller told me it wasn't avalaible yet !

Marshmallow Jones, in answer to your question, Stewart didn't use his octobans yet in June 1979 !
The first pictures I have (many thanks Dietmar !!!) with Stew playing octobans are from the Reading festival in august, 24 !

Still seems very odd that there is no ride cymbal or crash cymbals on his right side. are there more photos from this concert?

yes, there are a little but not so many with Stewart playing drums.
I guess The Police did play this concert with very few personal gear (Sting for example didn't use his Taurus pedals, as I can't see them onstage).
Stewart would have probably played with the minimum...

Stewart played Pinkpop with Cymbals, of course. I guess they were painted out to get a better view of the other musicians, sky and audience...
Stewart used Octobans during the June 1979 tour. In fact at London's Lyceum on June 17 he had 8 !

dietmar- i was just looking at youtube.com and they have a video clip of pinkpop, and as i thought, stewart of course had cymbals on his right side. so it turns out this is a doctored photo, my suspicions were right!!!
