Drummer Reborn is Staring Down The Future...

Postby GoodbyeGirl on 28 Jun 2006 23:00

I finally got my copy today. Nice, long article with lots of fetching photos of Stewart. I liked the "fifty is the new thirty" comment. Now, that's good thinking!

With that logic, 19 is the new 7 1/2!

Three months, 7 days! :P

Was checking out what I'd want...and counting the days...

Stewart's still considered a modern drummer! I was always afraid he'd just get lumped as "oh he was the drummer of The Police", when he's so much more.

I haven't yet found a place that has it around here!

They always try and sell me DRUMMER, and just can't understand why I insist on Modern Drummer.

I'm probably going to have to give in and buy it form that site. Does everyone think that site looks trustfull?

I checked my local Borders today and it has already sold out here (or remaining copies were strategically placed elswhere). I also noticed that Foo Fighter Frontman Davi Grohl is on the cover of the latest issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine. I haven't had a chance to flip through it yet.

A friend took me to another book store (that I never noticecd...I shop at Half Price), so we both looked through all their magazines....nope. What do they have DRUMMER. Damn!

But of coarse I must ask if they have it on order or something....and again get the "No we never have that one, but we do have DRUMMER, why not get that one?" Well....that dosen't have Stewart Copeland on the cover. "Who's Stewart Copeland?" lol.

Try Waldenbooks, a music shop like Guitar Center or Sam Ash, or a drum shop.

Great to see him on a MD cover again! His last one was in the November 2001 issue, during Oysterhead's debut.

I just picked up my copy at Borders Express (which used to be Waldenbooks) at one of the local malls. It's a great story and quite lengthy! Also, it turns out that GIZMO will be performing at MD's Festival Weekend, which is September 16 & 17. This is basically a weekend drumfest where all sorts of famous drummers give clinics and performances. I think it's going to be at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Tickets are only available by phone. Check www.moderndrummer.com for more info.
