Just got Foos tix for here in Nashvegas January 28. 3rd row mezzanine, the closest level I could get without having to stand on the floor behind some dude with an 8 foot Afro all night.

Sockii's right - these tix are shockingly cheap. I wound up Stubhubbing, even though there are still some tickets on sale, b/c most of the good mezzanine tix were already sold out. Still, I paid *a lot* less than I would have for our boys.

Haven't seen them in a while, looking forward to it. And they're playing a smallish auditorium, too.

Hey!! I just went back and double checked my seat location - and they've HALVED the auditorium size by moving up the stage!!!! Now my tix are right next to the drumkit....YAHOOOOOOO!!!!!
If you can get close enough, molest Mr Hawkins for me, yes?

As for me; BRMC on 29/12, then I'm following Me First & The Gimme Gimmes around Australia in January. The best punk rock cover band in the world. Okay, the only punk rock cover band in the world. But they boast members of NOFX, Foo Fighters, No Use For A Name, Face To Face, Lagwagon and Swingin' Utters. Who could ask for more?

Hannaha, I nearly fell out of my chair when I read your post about the MBV reunion. By now, you've probably heard Shields say he's planning on finishing the follow-up to Loveless--14 years later. I hope you get tickets, selfishly, so I can read your concert report because I doubt they'll be making it to the US.

As for a concert I've actually seen, I recently saw Springsteen. I doubt there are many fans of his here, but, man, he can still kick out the jams. "Night," "Kitty's Back" and his cover of "American Land" had the crowd singing and dancing in the nosebleed sections.
I wasn't even supposed to be here today.

YES! Just scored tickets for MBV! WOOP WOOP! They added three extra london dates so i was in luck... and actually no I hadn't heard that Kevin Shields had said that. I was just talking with a friend tonight pondering that very possibility - I cannot even begin to imagine what the hell that would sound like!
will be seeing Duran Duran on Dec. 11th.
Let me know what you think of the show! I'm curious.

I've been a near lifelong Duranie to some extent or another, but I must confess I'm horribly disappointed in the new album. It sounds like such generic trendy dancepop to me; without Simon's voice I don't think I would have even recognized it as Duran Duran at all :( I thought Roger was still with them but all the drumming sounds like it came right out of a drum machine (not that I'd necessarily put him anywhere on my list of top drummers, but he still had a recognizable sound to me that's completely missing from this album, among other things...)

For smudge and hannaha, a link to an MBV interview just in case you haven't seen it. Glad to hear you both scored tickets. SCNutters representin' at MBV!

You'll have to suffer through the interviewer who seems to be in love with his own intellect.

I really wonder what MBV sounds like live. I heard once that Trey Anastasio wanted to have Phish play Loveless in its entirety for one of their Halloween shows and even said he figured out how to replicate their sound but it never came about. Curious what Loveless would have sounded like played by Phish, or better yet Oysterhead!!

The Fixx are playing at a FREE concert here tonight in LV Green Valley resort. I missed the show last night, but they are playing tonight..so good thing. However, I was able to meet the guys and get autographs and take pics with the guys. Very nice. I saw them in 83 at Oakland at the day on the green. Great show. Lineup: Madness, Oingo Boingo, Thompson Twins, The Fixx and The Police. Cy Curin and Jamie were telling me they remember the Paper plates being thrown in the air. Good times.

As an aside, did anyone in europe or the wider world manage to get tickets for Foo Fighters June gigs at Wembley? Sheesh, and I thought the Great Police Ticket Scramble was a nightmare!

No Foo Fighters tickets for me but I have got my hands on some Morrissey tickets for January and I'm off to see Ian Brown next week :D

Edited to say...

...and I almost forgot that I'm seeing Brucie (Springsteen NOT Forsyth!) next month at his one and only London show this year :D
