The Leroy Coolbreeze Fund/Melanoma International Fdtn.

Thanks to everyone's generosity and enthusiasm, The Leroy Coolbreeze Fund to support the Melanoma International Foundation (MIF) is about to become a reality! Those of you who've been chomping at the bit (Hi Equalizer!!) to send off a contribution can now do so by going directly to the MIF's contribution link: https://www.melanomaintl.org/donate.asp and filling out the form there. As you'll see, it's pretty straightforward. The Foundation accepts virtually all major credit cards, and is currently making arrangements to add a Pay Pal option. (Those interested in contributing through Pay Pal can do so starting next week.)

On the form, please note the field for designating whether a contribution is being made in someone's memory/honor. Entering "Leroy Coolbreeze" in that space will assure your donation is allocated to the special fund established for this project, and is included in the periodic progress reports indicating how much money has been raised in total. (Just a reminder that the only number made public here -- or anywhere, for that matter -- will refer to the TOTAL amount raised by us as a group...no individual names or contribution amount will ever be made public.) Anyone donating will be acknowledged through a letter directly from the MIF. No one from this site will be given any information about specific donors or contributions (not even DM!!) And, yes, I know I'm saying the same thing over and over but I want you all to be completely assured that your privacy and anonymity will be thoroughly respected.

I can't stress enough the COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY nature of this project. It is being created, essentially, to celebrate the incredible sense of community that has grown out of this tour, in general, and Stewart and the "lovely Green Menace," in particular. The last thing anyone wants is for a gesture of unity to turn into a competition or financial burden.

Since this project was borne of enthusiasm for "the little flag that could," you might like to see again exactly where that flag could -- and DID -- go during the past five months. Feel free to use this data in any way that inspires you! You can "adopt" the city in which you live, the place you saw your favorite show...or the one you wish you could've been at! You can shape your donation based upon the number of miles from one city to the next, round it up, round it down, double it, divide it, or totally ignore it and choose a number that feels right...you get the idea! it's all symbolic and private, so it's up to you!

Here's the breakdown for the 1st North American leg:

DM's house to Vancouver, BC = 2418 miles
Vancouver, BC to Manchester, TN = 2091
Manchester, TN to Los Angeles, CA = 1833
Los Angeles, CA to Houston, TX = 1388
Houston, TX to New Orleans, LA = 328
New Orleans, LA to St. Louis, MO = 591
St. Louis, MO to Miami, FL = 1062
Miami, FL to Cleveland, OH = 1090
Cleveland, OH to Philadelphia, PA = 358
Philadelphia, PA to Hershey, PA = 82
Hershey, PA to Toronto, ON = 394
Toronto, ON to Boston, MA = 433
Boston, MA to New York, NY = 190
New York, NY to East Rutherford, NJ = 13

Total miles for first North American leg = 12,271

And here's how the European leg adds up through October 20:

DM's House to Stockholm, Sweden = 3930
Stockholm to Birmingham, England = 1266
Birmingham to London = 120
London to Hamburg = 550
Hamburg to Amsterdam = 294
Amsterdam to Geneva = 581
Geneva to Vienna = 639
Vienna to Munich = 253
Munich to Barcelona = 857
Barcelona to Paris = 645
Paris to Turin = 485
Turin to Dublin = 1027
Dublin to Antwerp = 487
Antwerp to Cardiff = 329
Cardiff to London = 133

Total miles for European leg = 11,596

More mileage tallies will be reported as the tour returns to North America. In the meantime, please let me know (either here or by email) if there's any information or assistance I can provide.
Thanks again for being such a generous and all-around terrific group of people!!

And I get to be the first one (well, maybe second by the time I hit "submit") to say A*W*E*S*O*M*E*!*!*!*! And T*H*A*N*K*Y*O*U*!*!*!*

Our little flag has traveled so far...snif...I feel we're all such proud parents...especially if we raise a boodle of money for the Leroy Coolbreeze memorial to boot.

Nancy, are you going to post this on TPT? I bet a bunch of folks there would want to contribute as well.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

A suggestion made awhile back was that for those of us who ordered a Leroy Coolbreeze shirt from Nike could make a donation that matches the price of the shirt. That seems fitting to me and is what I plan to do once the Paypal thing is set up. :D

What do you mean completely voluntary??? No fucking way!
From today on there is a profanity tax in this forum!
Those who claim they enjoy my posts - you perverts - need to donate at least 1 cent per day for the 2007/2008 "Phat Bongo Extravaganza" - if you don't, lightning will strike you while you use the bathroom!

So that is US$ 3,65 for this year or you can buy a life long membershipt for 36,50 US$ and if you go for the Gold Membership which is 100 US$ Bongo and I will open a thread that has your name and we will badmouth the living shit out of you ... ! There is also membership for people in the international press. No matter what you donate we give you crap anyway!

Or you will be a good girl and just donate something in a nice manner - just like I will do ... !

Thumbs up for the whole thing!

Hey Dive!

I love your enthusiasm (and asterisks *****!!)!

I'm not sure it would be right to actively solicit donations over at TPT, considering that we have restricted the flag to SC.netters. (How would it look that we've said you have to be an SC.net member to sign the flag...but please contribute to our project?)

That said, I would love it if the fund got casually mentioned over there and there were folks who wanted to support it.

Does it matter if I'm going #1 or #2

Hey Nancy - beautiful work my dear!! You did such a wonderful job, along with DM. There is a very special place for both of you.

However, I don't think mentioning this on TPT is rubbing anyone's nose in anything. The Flag and the Leroy Coolbreeze Melanoma fund are mutually exclusive. I think anyone who can appreciate what a positive and wonderful influence Ian Copeland was, would love to donate to a cause in his name. Any fans of Sting's or Andy's will be well aware of who Ian was and how important he was to them personally and professionally.

I would also put a link at the Backstage - I'm sure someone already has, but just in case - there are people there who may not actively read the SC.Net forum, but would certainly want to know about this fund.

OK - I'm off my little soapbox - I would be glad to start a TPT thread, if anyone feels uncomfortable doing so. Again, I don't think we are sending a mixed message here - they all pretty much know the Flag is just for SC.Netters.

IMHO

Hey Donna!

I would love it if you talked about the Leroy Fund over at TPT, and I would truly welcome the participation of as many fans as possible in raising money for this cause. I can't think of anyone from whom the message would be better received than you, you gorgeous, intelligent, eloquent woman!!
Have at it!!!

As for AUI, I know it was mentioned over there during the planning stage...perhaps Conroy can advise us re: where to go from here?

Fuuuuck. That would have been a much better way to go.

THANK YOU, NANCYROSE, for all of your hard work in putting this together. I know it wasn't easy peasy. YOU ROCK!

Donna, if you think it wouldn't be a mixed message as you say, I think it would be lovely if you would post over at TP.com about the fund. Thank you! Please let Nancy or me know if you need help putting something together.

And thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm and generosity. Y'all are some amazing folk.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.
