Other Concerts

Boy you like to be right, don't you....
Lawyer born and bred.
So it is Pete imitating Roger and Tom Waits, more so in the CD than live.
He just has a naturally sweet voice, but I applaud him for experimenting.

When I first heard the sond, I HATED the vocals. But the more I listened to it, the more I realized that it was ABSOLUTELY the right choice for the song.
There is no bigger gong.

It is a great song, because nobody knows how to express pain better than Pete, and this song is really on the verge of madness pain.
I felt the growling like pain coming from the guts. The guy is a fucking genius, one of the absolute finest minds (considering what he has done to it in his lifetime).

Anyone interested in Van Halen around here--especially in the Philly area--comcastix just released some good seats for next week's show. I managed to get a pair dead center, two rows back from the center of the curly cat-walk:

Probably the typical situation of tickets being held-back until they knew exaclty how much space the stage would take up & then releasing them at the last minute. Considering what stubhub prices were still showing up for, I'm quite chuffed.

Um, I think I'm going to cry. You took the words right out of my mouth, Kaly. Thank you. Thank you. :D

KIND of OT: When I was around 13 or 14 my family got a kitten to replace our two older ones that passed away. Those two didn't have names because the family (2 boys and 2 girls) could never think of the perfect name, so they remained nameless to their dying days! We actually would just refer to them as kooty kat. Well, I guess that's their name, then, aye? But annnnnnyway, when we got a new kitten we struggled for a name and finally one day my oldest brother said "Townshend" and we all just went, "yes". Best cat ever. And he lived his nine lives to the fullest.

Sockii, Nice going hope you guys have a blast.

Australian Pink Floyd are coming to the Tower November 9 & 10.

I think I will be divorced by the end of the year, with the way these gigs are lining up.

I'm thinking about that! I just have to check my schedule first.

I'm already committed to seeing The Musical Box both Dec 14 & 15 at the Keswick, but I've never seen the Aussie Floyd so I may have to catch one of those shows...

It's sort of interesting to note: the Van Halen tour opener seems to be getting overwhelmingly very positive reviews this morning, given all the trash talk it received when first announced:

Surprised to hear that Diamond Dave is in good form vocally. Good for them.

I am glad to find another Pete lover. For years he just seemed to voice exactly what I was feeling and left me speechless. It was "how does he KNOW?"

Whenever I see this subject header I keep thinking - "There are other concerts??"

My focus is a bit narrow at the moment. I'll get back to normal someday.

HolymotherfuckingSHIT Van Halen rocked last night!

 :!:  :!:  :!:

I don't even necessarily consider myself a big fan in general (I mean, I know their music, thought I sort of liked some of it, would never have gone out of my way on my own to see them). But goddamned...that was a show. I'm sure vespapod will chime in with more--he's already desperate to go to Wednesday night's show too. Think what you will of Diamond Dave but he is quite the charmer on stage, and it was clear he and Eddie were having terrific fun.

Oh, and Wolfie? Does his daddy proud bigtime. It was actually terrifically sweet seeing how much he was being welcomed into the band and it was pretty jaw-dropping to see a sixteen year old kid who could hold his own with these guys.

Pics later.

Oh, but Stewart's gong is still bigger than Alex's (and I didn't even see Alex USE his gong once! What a waste of the pretty shiny...)
