Anyone going to see the Foreigner tour in the UK later this year my tip is to arrive early to check out the support act Francis Dunnery...

Not much in line for the rest of the year. Went to more concerts than ever this year though...

I'm a live music slut...if I get the chance to see someone in concert...I'm taking it!! :)

As of now for the rest of the year...

Oct. 6 - Chris Botti
Nov. 2 - Peter Cincotti

My Fall schedule, sans Police, so far:

Genesis this Thursday (the Phil-haters can shut up now.)

Van Halen either 10/1 or 10/3...vespa still needs to get the tickets.

Foo Fighters 10/6 OH YEAH!!! Probably my most anticipated show at the moment.

The Musical Box 12/14 and 12/15. Best tribute band ever. Can't wait to see the new "Black Show"...

I'm seeing The National this Saturday, and then Interpol on 11 October. Then November is all-Police-all-the-time ...

We've also got good opera in our Lyric Opera series this year: La Boheme, La Traviata, John Adams' Dr. Atomic, Julius Caesar, Falstaff. Great music all around!

visiting a Rush show would be great too! Too bad they don't play in Switzerland, their last CD is very nice!

I've got tix for both Kings of Leon and Bloc Party (yeah!) at the moment...saw Nick Lowe last night, which moved me to tears. Seriously. I looked into some of his other dates, but most of 'em are Vancouver or similarly-priced plane tickets away. Sigh.

*Hm...What have I seen this year...Dynamites, three or four times, who are always awesome

*A bunch of great stuff at Bonnaroo, including a terrific set by the White Stripes, even if they were very far away; and the Flaming Lips (always fun to see, they used to be nearly the only band that visited the tiny town in Kansas where I grew up. I've seen them probably 30 times, starting in a dump in Wichita in 1985. It thrills me to see them achieve such success.)

*Two great sets by the Hoodoo Gurus (Chicago, NYC), which were worth every penny of the plane tickets I bought to see 'em

*Neko Case opening for Rufus Wainwright (and I WILL see the New Pornographers set three days before CHA-lloween in Asheville)

*Yo La Tengo in Knoxville...burr under my saddle is that they've recorded a couple albums in Nashville and have not once played a set there...

One of these days I want to see The Killers. Timing has never been with me yet.

I'm also looking forward to the Duran Duran tour, even though I heard reports were not good from the fan club show recently... :(

Well, let's see: here's what's currently on the plate <grin>

Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello at Clemson, Van Halen at Charlotte, Squirrel Nut Zippers on my birthday, Foo Fighters in Atlanta, Echo Project (weekend festival in Atlanta with Flaming Lips, The Roots, Les Claypool, Cypress Hill, Killers), New Pornographers in Asheville, In the weekend of Challoween in NYC I'm want to catch Gogol Bordello, Robert Fripp, and Zappa plays Zappa...that's Sept./Oct. so far!

Sockii: that's too bad, I really like Duran Duran too...I did think they sounded pretty good from Live Earth, minus the terrible miking on the hi hats and some pretty significant sound glitches...looks like we'll have to see! I'm willing to risk it, however <grin>

dang, GSC, will you ever be busy! :D
i thought Duran were good on Live Earth too, but who knows? i know that alot of the fans are upset 'cause Andy is no longer in the group. and plus the fact that the new music is being produced by Justin Timberlake- -but we shall see how it turns out-looks like Sony wants the music to sell to the 'younger crowd'-now how old does this make me sound?

Agreed! It was a hell of a year as far as concerts went for me as well. I have this bad habit of surfing Ticketmaster when I'm bored. And if I find something...look out!

My year looked like this:

January 20 - Jonny Lang concert - Brown Theater, Louisville, KY
February 9 - Goo Goo Dolls concert, The Palace, Louisville, KY
March 10 - Taylor Hicks, The Alabama Theater, Birmingham, AL
March 23 - Great Big Sea, Southern Theater, Columbus, OH
March 24 - Great Big Sea, The Music Mill, Indianapolis, IN
April 13 - Celtic Women, The Palace, Louisville KY
April 27 - Loreena McKennitt , Rymann Auditorium, Nashville, TN
May 21 - Bo Bice, The Music Mill, Indianapolis, IN
May 22 - Plans hault: My roomie's dad and my grandma pass away within hours of each other...
June 7-15 - Travel through Ireland from Dublin to Shannon with the band The Brobdingnagian Bards on their Ireland tour.
July 14 - The Police, Churchill Downs, Louisville, KY
August 3-5 - Gaelic Storm, Flogging Molly, etc., Dublin Irish Fest, Dublin, OH
September 14-16 - Siochain, Gael Force, Seven Nations, Indy Irish Fest, Indianapolis, IN
October 6 - Chris Botti, The Brown Theater, Louisville, KY
November 2 - Peter Cincotti, Clowes Hall, Indianapolis, IN

Whew...I think that's it. LOL!! Unless I manage those tickets for The Police in Atlanta.

Ooooh, just got tickets for Hot Hot Heat, De Novo Dahls, and Bedouin Soundclash. Yay! It's gonna be a musical fall!

OK GSC, as a fellow academic, I want pointers from you on time management! How ya gonna swing all of these shows *and* write a dissertation? Advice, please!

Hey, I've been meaning to see De Novo Dahl forever. They're friends of friends, so to speak, and everyone says they're awesome. You'll have to write a report.

What's the date on Echo Project G???
