Many times I think that if the police were recording now, it would still sound more or less like a Sting solo album.

The Police went out on top. I have always respected them for that.

Like many of you, I'd love to have them tour again but for the right reasons. Stewart said one time (at least I read it once) that he thought a tour for charity would be a good idea. That's one option.

Somehow, I doubt we'll ever see it. But I'm sure Cream fans said the same thing for 35 years.

After seeing at least twice as many Sting solo shows as Police concerts, I'm not so sure how much I'd want to see them. Maybe the Jules Holland interview from "Ghost in the Machine" days or "Bring on the Night" showed how calculating and contrived Mr. Sumner can be.

What a shame.

I saw Sting on consecutive nights in 1988 (Purdue University and Indiana University "... Nothing Like the Sun" tour). It amazed me how much the shows were carbon copies of each other. Moments I thought were spontaneous were scripted. I've never seen him the same since. (And have saved a lot on concert tickets)

Stewart and Andy still care about the fans. Sting apparently cares about the finances. His two-year cycle of album-tour-rest is as strong as ever.

When you have the chance to see Andy or Stewart, it's an opportunity. With Sting, it's standard procedure.

Police reunion? Why taint seeing Stewart?

Still, I'd be the first in line for a ticket. They mean too much to me.

I saw Sting show sometime, but never Stewart neither Andy...



And if it will be a new Police joint someday, I hope I will be in the line to buy a ticket, just behind Samburu.

I like Sting and much of his music after the Police, but I seriously wonder if he would have ever reached the fame he has now if it weren't for his involvement with the Police. It seems like rock appeals to a lot more people than his lighter, solo stuff.

Sometimes I think about it and get angry with Sting and think how he owes it to Stewart and Andy to get back together because if it weren't for all 3 of them together playing the kind of music they played, Sting would be relatively unknown.

But, then I remind myself that artists tend to start hitting walls in their creativity if they can't keep experimenting with new styles and avenues. How long could the Police have gone on making really great music if Sting and eventually Stewart and Andy felt stifled and gagged in the same old medium?
