Our Giovanni has written......

I looked at the automatic translator. It is very far from clear English. I had to stop reading because it was making my head hurt. Unfortunately I've forgotten most of my college Italian or I'd have at least tried it!

If automatic translators were any good, none of the million of professional translators would have a job, including yours truly.

I heard of one who translated "caro papà" into "expensive father"...

There is a branch of our job called postediting, which consists in putting in human form these abominations that people insist in using. It is OK to look up ONE word on them.
There is NO way a machine can catch all the nuances of human language. Maybe one day, but I will be dead by then.

And, GG, I think Uccellina has done it from Japanese to English. It is in another thread. She was so kind to do it pro bono. I would have done it, but don't have the time. I just translated the paragraph that sounded most relevant to Police fans.

What I've done is the translation of Gio's article in the booklet attached to " Everyone Stares DVD /Japane Edition "

And it's not the one on JAM magazine.
(It's still only in Italian) 8)

Sorry Ucc.
Take a look at the description of my day in the FWS thread and you will understand why I am confused so often.
