Hole in My Life

Did they change this up at all, or is it more or less the same live version they've done before?

Someone posted on TPT.com that the version they're doing now is in E minor where before it used to be in A minor. Should be very interesting... definitely looking forward to that bootleg...

ps. ...oh yeah, and that "Hit The Road Jack" tag at the end... (evidently they also used to do that in the Synchronicity tour)

Well, aside from a key change, I was wondering if they had come up with a new arrangement for it - a la "Walking In Your Footsteps" or "Invisible Sun" etc.
I s'poze there'd be more talk about it if that were the case though.
Just wondering. Happy to hear it anyway they want to play it.

Steerpike posted it on dime, and after listening to it, it sounds like a slower more tentative attempt of the Synch tour version. Much lower key and at this point very little excitement to it. 'Hit The Road' tag also. They must've studied one of there own boots such as 'This Must Be Heaven' to get this version. Hopefully after a few more goes at it they will be comfortable enough to speed it up and make it stellar again....overall losing Bed's for this version of Hole is not an even exchange...

And I heart Stewart and Andy! Fun! Aside from Sting's irksome phrasings, the only thing I don't like are the "yeah"s. Somehow I feel like they either need to be really punched out or not done at all cuz doing them in a languid fashion just doesn't fit well with the rest of the sound. And the big pause-y ending is crying for Sting to say something (such as the ol' "one time for me" bit -- but *something*). Particularly once it's more familiar, I think it'll be a pretty good burst of energy.

Listening to it now (Stockholm 8/30 boot)... I like it... a bit on the slow side, sure, but so were Truth Hits Everybody and DSSCTM and some others from the beginning of the tour, so I would imagine if they continue doing this one eventually it will speed up... I do agree that the "yeah"s are drawn out and vibrato'd a bit much almost... you sense that any moment Sting's going to lapse into a rather polite "yes"... but overall I think it sounds good... that ol' Stewart Hole In My Life shuffle pocket certainly hasn't disappeared, that's for sure... Andy's smokin' on it... yeah, I like it... as for Bed's Too Big, well, I did manage to see them do that one 6 times at 6 different shows, so I'm not complaining...

As is her wont, DM has hit on the precise word for which I've been struggling as I think about my problems with some of the rearrangements: languid. I'd love it if they can pull off the combination of lower key, tension, and urgency; the languid pace saps the tension and urgency that I think is crucial to songs like, for example, Don't Stand So Close To Me.
