I think she said statUTE, not staTUE. We should have a statue though.
A Stew statue. Or a staStew if you will.

Wish we could all meet. Y'all girls are crazy!

My new avi is a pic of Andy's telecaster I took at the Cleveland show. I know it's not our man. I just think it's cool. I've got some Stew concert pics I can work into rotation.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

You are the sweetest person on this site, EQ. You are blessed with a beautiful family and good karma. Now don't let your 6 year old sweetie read this thread until she is 16. 8)

SAMBURU da KOOLEST Telecaster Avi!!! Love it!! You gotta love Andee's Tele!

Well, El, interesting Idea of a Statute with green shorts and tube socks... :D I always think of Statutes as boring paper-colored sheets. (J/K) You make me laugh. Gimme your autograph!
I So want to meet y'all, when we recover financially from the Police reunion (I am bracing myself for the next credit card bill and working overtime). I would be delighted to meet at the BT, surrounded by all things Copeland even if they ain't what they used to be. If I have to give my hard earned mazuma for food and drink, I want to do it toasting to Ian. Never seen anybody so good at selling camels!!!!!!

BTW, You who Have Been To The Event:

THe BC is among MyFriends, and I do not see that they have changed their name to Tavern. At least, they still advertise as BC.
I emailed them asking if this had happened.
It is THE place I want to go to when I happen to visit LA again (I think you have to live in LA to appreciate it and know what's what . As an occasional visitor, apart from Santa Monica Boulevard, I really don't like it).
BTW, Erin DemoGal, where are you?

This was posted on the Ask Uncle Ian Message Boards by Barbara

I can't believe that we haven't put anything here yet about the remodeling, but soon after my last post I cleared my safari history and I got logged out of this site. I have been busy with school so I haven't had a chance to search how to fix it until now. But at least now I have my correct email address listed, the old one was wrong.
Anyway, just a few months before my dad got sick he started looking into making some major changes at Backstage. He met with some guys who had worked in the restaurant/bar business for many years and they began to discuss what changes would occur. After ten years of red cluttered walls and leopard carpet Daddy wanted to "give the ol' gal a facelift" as he put it, as well as getting professional management so that he didn't have to be at the bar all day everyday. He was very excited about their ideas and was looking forward to doing business with them. Well then my dad got sick and all of those plans had to be put on the back burner. These guys were patient enough to wait until Chandra, Barrett and I were ready.

Backstage Cafe is now Backstage Tavern. The walls are now buttercream and the carpet has been pulled up and replaced with hardwood. My boyfriend, his father and I went there last weekend and I must say that although the differences were shocking, I loved it! I wasn't sure if I would but I did. She's never been so clean!
As for the memorabilia, it was taken down when they painted. It will all be cleaned, repaired if needed and then the best of it will be put back up. Not all of it though.

For the people who might not like the changes, believe me I understand. Not everyone likes change. But Chan, Barrett and I firmly believe that not only is this what my dad would have wanted (mostly because he started it) , but it was what we needed to do to keep Backstage going for many years to come.
I would love to hear opinions of what y'all think! I might not respond for a while though, I am off to Mexico on Wednesday!

Where are you PR? I'm in Balto. I need to make it to the BT also. Too bad I didn't get there before. Sounds like it may have lost some of its charm. Hope they didn't loose any Stewy memorabilia.

You can't beat SF for crabcakes. Or Vancouver for salmon.
We should definitely meet at the Cafe&Tavern&Whatever.
I personally feel email very limiting/frustratin/leading to misunderstanding, and have the feeling that we would have the greatest time together in person, once one shakes off the "impressions" one gets from the posts of one's personality.

At this point, I don't know if what I should wish for, regarding the tour. Stewart's post was anything but encouraging (again, this is email interpretation. Guy might not have his coffee and farting in Dutch).

BTW Barbara,

Your Father's wishes are ours. We loved and respected him and there ain't going to be another Ian in the world. I happened to meet him when he was young, only I thought he was just a cute guy helping out at the fan club. He was so kind to me and made me laugh.

I look forward to come to LA and visit the Tavern, and all the changes will be most welcome. It is never good to look back, and change is always moving towards life.

Enjoy Mexico! I hear Chan and you are quite the globetrotters, in Pure Copeland Style.

Xo

This thread is officially on Hiatus. I am moving momentarily to the TOUR with SETLIST (that is the IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS) thread.

It seems that there is too much going on for any of us.
