Who would you wait out in the rain for?

Talking about FYC, I saw an ad for an English Beat show. Wonder if Dave Wakling is with them. Anyone know? I saw the VH1 show where he played a song or two with most of the old members. Maybe the show went so well he decided to rejoin. :) Can't imagine how they could be called the English Beat without him.

It's OK, Elvis has been monstrously influential, and without him there would have been almost none of the white rock and roll artists.
I love Frankie too because it was a big influence for Bowie, and because my dad fed me a diet of Sinatra and Ella since I was a baby. Unlike a certain drummer we know, I really like trad jazz singing and jazz in general.

I know, that is the real reason why we could never be compatible

The English Beat are a fixture at our local club here Broadway 19. I don't know if Dave Wakeling is with them. I only liked Mirror in the Bathroom, so I really don't want to spend a night in a watering hole with a low ceiling and no chairs to sit on, which is mainly a single pick-up site, but every now and then it has big names.
Nah...unfortunately not. It had the guy from Supertramp, GREG LAKE on bass (and he played with Howard Jones at the keyboards...where is the HORROR icon - No one can replace Keith for me) who also winked at yours truly several times when I ran to the first row during Ian Hunter's All the Young Dudes, our "My Generation" anthem...ahem...why always the ones you DON'T like?
There was also Sheila E. on drums and Ringo played some songs as well, among which, of course "Love me do", which he did not play on record...He is a Sweetie and a pacifist and one of the nicest stars I have ever seen.

Now MY husband takes the prize...he has seen John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the famous Detroit Concert for John Sinclair, featured in the movie the US vs. John Lennon. I think this is really a feather in his cap. He is a huge Lennon fan to my being a Paulie girl forever...
Hey Kaly - When did you see Ringo? I saw him with his "All Star Band" in '05 (I think) at Radio City in NYC. He had Sheila E with him then. He was just releasing a new album at the time. I don't remember who else was with him but it was good.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

(looking for the lost Changed My Life thread, I found this).

Samb,
I saw Ringo in Concord, CA. Nice place to see a band. It would not contain the Police as the Coliseum, but it was VERY easy to get to the front row.
My boss has seen EVERYONE (except the Beatles) and his favorite concert by far was Elvis. Better than the Police.
Mmmm, Thank god we are different. I feel lucky that I don´t have the same point of view as your boss.

I never liked Elvis music, but I already know many people love his music.

To me The Police/Stewat Copeland solo work, are the best, master of masters at least on record sounds, because I never saw my favorite trio not even Stewart on live concert.

Let see what will happen after 27-11-2007

My boss said it was a matter of stage presence. No one commanded an audience like the king, he says.

Best live concerts that I have seen:

Queen, AC/DC, Carlos Santana.

To me the best is Queen, but is sad that now, without Freddy Mercury, I can't see this band again, no matter if is a sunny or rainy day.

Who would you wait out in the rain for?

Maybe also (if it was possible) The Doors with enigmatic Jim Morrison.
