UK folks please read - TOTP 2 BBC special

Postby dafttart on 27 Aug 2007 21:30

Ooooh just remembered to tune in having had a rather drunken bbq! I will Sky+ it too and hope to invest in a DVD recorder sometime soon to dub it off. Hopefully others are already set up to do this for everyone who wants a copy. If not, I'll oblige when I update my antique equipment

Thank christ for this forum. Just got reminded in time to see walking on the moon vid. Who directed that? They seem to be unusually interested in the percussive element of the music.....

And I shouldn't be finding Stewart smoking at all sexy, right?

Erm. And sting doing TOPT 'wrapped around your finger' appears to be channeling Simon Le Bon. Seriously. Very odd. I don't remember that at the time. Just remember Andy and Stewart looking glum...:(

Hi Tj.

Standard video stuff. Plus some footage from Hatfield Poly (Fall Out, Hole in My Life, Message in a Bottle, and possibly something else while I was being distracted by domestic crap). Lots of top of the pops miming stuff. I don't think there's anything new/original/unavailable elsewhere. I've had a kick out of seeing the TOPT stuff and videos that I remember being glued to as a 12/13 year old.

And the valuable insight that SC's drums now read 'kiss me you fool'. Right. Thanks BBC....

Yeah. spirits from totp. There may have been other stuff - sorry I had to be in and out of the room. Dafttart may be better able to give a proper run down once she's seen it.

Really hope someone got a good copy of this - even if it's nothing "new", I know my copies of some stuff like the Klark Kent appearance and the Bed's Too Big video could use a serious quality upgrade!

no, that would have been saved for the needless, time-wasting fucking cover version of 'beds too big'.... what were they thinking at the BBC??

i enjoyed it.........
Hatfield songs i think we've all seen before; although i forgot that Gordo started to put in the beatles at the end of it ("I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in and stops my mind from wandering...there's a hole, in my life")

Klark Kent on TOTP!! different version to the record. Haven't seen it for years, forgot about the green wash on the camera, No "If you don't like my arrogance...", replaced with something like "If you're wondering why I'm wearing a mask, its because without it the secret identity is revealed".
And four bods on guitar? hmmmm, cannae remember who they are.

Great early 'Roxanne' from TOTP, miserable looking band in 1983, and some 2007 live at the start of the show....

alas, scrambled around trying to get cables to do what i wanted them to do; but no joy.........
