Guys,

I heard a dj say all Labor Day weekend would be a Police weekend, and you can call in to win a contest to see them. They didn't say where, but who cares?!

:-)

Not subscribing to make that POF of Howard Stern richer.
I would have rather paid $100 for TPT (which I haven't).

Gotcha. Have a feeling that may catch on in EQ's lexicon. (like I don't say the f word enough; at least I will be using it in a new way)

By the way, Sirius is not that great. Whenever I need a loaner car, my dealer always gives me a car equiped with Sirius. Pretty disappointing. I thought there was supposed to be a 24 hr Who station. Could never find it.

The 24 hour stations are generally short term -- usually in conjunction with a major tour like The Who's last one, Rolling Stones, Bruce, etc.

I love my Sirius radio. Best Christmas gift I've ever gotten (thanks vespapod!)

One of these days I'll break down and buy the lifetime subscription...but I'm just waiting to see how the eventual (IMO) merger with XM plays out.

I'm also a confirmed Howard Stern nutter (or Bababoey-head if you must) here since the early 1980s when he was on WNBC in New York and not ashamed to admit it.

Well, I know you are a woman, Nicole: How do you take his extreme sexism? He is Jewish, and when I want to upset my husband or my Jewish friend I get him as an example of how not all Jews are intelligent. Good with money, yes, but...
I only listened to his show when Courtney Love was on it. For Courtney.

When he bothers me, I turn him off. I'm smart enough to know what an on/off switch is for.

90% of the time I get my biggest laughs of the day out of his show, and how he makes fun of everyone. Including--and often especially--himself.

OK. I guess, since I don't follow him, I don't really know when he can be funny. I just saw him treating women (who actually were deserving to be treated like that if they let him) like inflatable dolls in the best of cases.
Maybe he is a genius, and he knows what people want.

OTOH, you don't come from a sexist country, so I imagine that is why we perceive him differently. Far from my mind thinking you're an idiot that does not know how to switch off a radio.

Some XM Radio stations are a part of my DirecTV service, but I rarely use it, unless I put in on the classical station or the 70s rock station. Some of the rental cars I use have it, but it's too hard to sort out the stations, so I just use the disc player.

I suppose the radio days that some of us grew up with are really over, unless you're lucky enough to have a local college station near you.

I love my Sirius! Can't live w/o it. But I've never heard XM, so I'm not a good judge.

Yes, I heard the same thing about the Police contest. But it's usually not a call in - none of the call-ins on any Sirius station are "live." All you get is a recording. It will probably require a sign up on the website to enter the contest.

I've got a Sirius in the car, XM in the house. Just to make sure all my bases are covered...

(well, really because I had 2 XMs before I bought my new car, which came with Sirius preinstalled. It does come in handy to have one of each, I must say...)
