DirtyMartini's Dirty Secret

Postby sockii on 23 Aug 2007 01:11
And yes I do like Genesis / Phil Collins <ducks>

Me too, animal. No shame in that.

I may not care for most of what he's done since his first two solo albums - which I still consider phenomenal work - but he IS a damned fine drummer who just doesn't show it often enough these days. His tom tom work is some of my favorite.

And yeah, I'm going to see Genesis next month in Philly and damned pleased about it too.

PS: If you ever get the chance to see the tribute band The Musical Box, run--don't walk--to get to one of their shows. Hands down the most incredible tribute act out there today. They take it to religious-experience levels.

Sockii,

Wish I could be there.

I had a tough choice a second Police show, or 1 Police 1 Genesis.

Still may try to get the Genesis show but watch the divorce courts as I may just be there with that suggestion.

My neighbor is a Genesis freak and raved about them too.

Supposedly at the Borgata Casino, one of the owners is a Genesis freak also, was going to name one of the venues The Musical Box, ran into some issues and had to change it to The Music Box. Not sure if it's true but some trivia for you.

In response to the earlier pages of this bizarre little thread:

You know, you stay up all bloody night to deal with flags and customs and time zones and bullshit, and what do people reward you with? Drum lines so straight you could hang wallpaper to them!

*snicker*

Smudge, my dove, yours is the worst non-mea culpa ever. For Gordo's sake, you volunteered to travel all over the country just to carry the Flag around! Moeskido has already deemed you one of the Unsung Heroes of the Flag, and he's absolutely right. So stop feeling bad that you tried to commit a loving, generous, selfless act. Silly rabbit. (And nice "Amnesty" line, btw.)

As for the rest, you people are a scream.

Although, wait -- so what's my secret? That I don't totally suck? Or that you people totally do? Cuz I don't think either is a particularly well-kept secret, let alone a dirty one.

Now for the love of Copeland, somebody cue "Guerilla":

thudda-thump-thump-splish thump-thu-thump-splish thump-thu-thump-splish thump-thump-splish thump-thudda-splish thudda-thump-splish thump-thump-splish thudda-thump-splish thudda-click. thunk. click-ticketyticketytick-tickety-(I won't even pretend to talk out the hihat bit)-splish dum da-dum dum-dudda-dum-dum. dum-dudda-dum dum da-da da-dum. dudda-dum dudda-dum dudda-dum-dum. dum dudda-dum dudda-dum da dudda-da-whump. . . .

There are a lot of tickets on Stubhub, animal. I'm going to the 9/20 show, would be cool to see you there! (Heck, I may upgrade the tickets I have at this point closer to the gig if I can get something better, right now I'm on the 200 level. If you want I'll let you know if I do...)

Kudos DM for doing such a great job with flag mission control. I hope to be able to partake in it if it passes through the midwest again.

Ground Control to Major Tom
Your Circuit'd Dead
There is something wrong,
"do you like Phil Collins?
do you like Genesis mach 2?"

Here am I floating in my tin can
Far above the World
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do...
