GIO, Feel free to Delete this Thread

I remember liking Nothing Like the Sun quite a bit when it first came out. Looking at the tracks on it now, I see that it is pretty weak. But can't say I hate it. Soul Cages really didn't do it for me. I think Dream was his best solo because in many ways it was his post Police-ish.

3 over 4 and I totally agree on The Soul Cages being the best solo album Sting has made. The most personal, the most Gordon Sumner without the superstar, with the best songs. I know only us two loved this album to tears, nobody liked it among the people I know.

I don't know why, but that is the closest I have felt to the real person behind Stingo.

NLTS when it came out in vinyl as a DOUBLE album (while it was kind of album and a half) it was the biggest ripoff ever. Ridiculous.

Certainly, Soul Cages was Stingo's most personal and heartfelt CD. But I just thought it dwelled a bit too much in its own sentiment to the determient of the songs.

Sting? Relying too much on his own sentiments?

Great! I can confess in a 'soon to be deleted' thread (oh do delete it soon Gio), that I love Soul Cages. I gave it a passing shrug when it came out, then moved to newcastle and it became a soundtrack for the city. Oddly. A fine, fine album.

And since this is going to be deleted,
When Sting sings live in Ghost in the Machine he has all the spit at the corners of his mouth....YUUUUCCCCKKK!!!! Bring on, not the night, but a bottle of WATER!!! However, you can still look at him...If it was Phil Collins, we would seriously need a vomit icon!

Poor Stewie, less airtime than anybody, but oh his white tennis outfit and long hair, working his butt off, clearly not pleased with the arrangements and the direction of the band...

Just a couple of observations...

I've always wondered why Stingo ok'ed the release of that video given the saliva thing. Its worse then if he had some pizza sauce on his chin.

As this is the thread of secret confessions, I like the sound of the drums in In the Air Tonight.
Yep, this thread better be deleted ANY minute before I start revealing more embarassing stuff.

Come on. A Police fan can admire the engineering of Hugh, can't he. (Didn't he engineer that album?)

By the way, gotta love the Oscar people for not inviting Phil to play that song during the Oscars when it was nominated for Best Song.

By the way part two, anyone else think that it was a major crime when McCartney's Vanilla Sky lost to Randy Neuman? I think Sting was also nominated that year for a Meg Ryan movie but that song deserved to lose.
