David Lee Roth's Police Bashing

Postby georgygirl on 15 Aug 2007 03:12

mrbates, don't pay too much attention on what's Dave Lee Roth said.

I saw him live long time ago, and in Jump song, he didn´t jump at all.

So, don't take too serious what he said. I think he is a little bit jealous of Police's success, joy and the money ...

OK, just saw the announcement on YouTube. Having been a long time fan of both our boys and VH I feel I can be fairly impartial. This is NOT to say I think these 2 bands are on an even scale musically (or in my heart :D ).
Diamond Dave is and always has been a hysterical baffoon. He's a great front man and that's part of what made VH so great when he was in it. He's an OK singer and like him or not, everyone knows that signature howl of his. I saw him last fall at a small club. He still entertaining as hell and can still jump and kick.

Having been the big VH fan that I was back in the DLR days (I wasn't into Sammy much and Gary Cherone?? get real, eh!) I'm surprised he didn't go on and on and on.... (and Sting thinks Stewart's hard to shut up...).
SO....no, I don't think ole' Diamond Dave slighted our boys at all. He was simply saying that their tour is intended to be the launching pad for a new VH venture that they hope will go on. Not, the one off this-is-it tour that The Boys are doing.

But, I hope those Van Halen boys aren't deceiving themselves!!!
They may be thinking "Hey those Limey dicks are sold out all over the world! Shiiiit! We can do that!" Don't count your Viagra before they're hatched, Dave! I don't know what the ticket prices are going to be but there's no fuckin' way I'm gonna pay any kind of big bucks to see them!
Their biggest asset is, ironically, also their greatest liability: Eddie.

In the meantime, I'll keep going to hear the most incredible percussionist to ever wear little green shorts ;) and his brilliant mates.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

Mmmm...

The gig was on Switzerland on 1984, playing Motley Crue, Van Halen, and AC/DC.

I remeber I was waiting Van Halen to see Dave Lee Roth jump, but he didn't, just a little bit, but nothing to do like in Jump video...

So David ain't all uppity on the police. That's cool with me. To each his own. There will be too many mullets at these shows for me to pass up. The county will be out in force. All right you sinners - swing!

He and the clash used to trade alot of insults.

He a blast !

Like you said the guys a super frontman, I just wish poor Eddie could get a word in.

I hope all the best for them...Eddie looks pretty frail to me. I hope I am wrong...I hope Dave can still sing. I always really liked his vocals.

I don't think Diamond Dave said anything negative about The Police. He was saying that they are back...as a band....to make records and carry on.

The Police are (supposedly) just doing a farewell overdue tour.

Cheers.

Here's my former comments on this from the other thread if you care to read.

I too think Dave is quite the entertainer. Funny, witty, and harasses everyone he comes in contact with. That's showbiz folks!

I agree. Eddie is the biggest asset but also the biggest liability.

That clip of Dave has got to be one of the most mortifying things I've seen in a LONG time! He used to be pretty cool, but that's just scary!
I must say it will be interesting to see how their tour pans out.

I know some people may take exception to this, but my observation is that DLR is basically the SC of VH. ;)

I'll give you that to a point. Both can be loud and tend toward the obnoxious (on Stewart it's endearing, of course), but where I draw the line is DLR's lack of class. Don't get me wrong-- back in the day I really dug the guy, but he's become a bad parody of himself. In addition, Stewart is wicked talented, whereas I'm not 100% sure what ol' Dave is. An entertainer, I guess?

I haven't been here in a few weeks because of pneumonia and I wasn't aware of this but all I can say to DLR is this-At least Stewart and Sting(who both have much CUTER BUTTS than yours DON'T NEED TO HAVE THE ASS CHEEK PART OF THEY'RE PANTS TORN OUT TO SELL
AN ALBUM-and I ALSO agree with many others here-HE'S JUST JEALOUS
of The Police success! Oh and DLR needs to lose the term"diamond" Dave
as he wouldn't make a good claw ring! Just my 2 cents!

Many thanks to Stinggirl04 for doing this great Stewart avatar to the left here! Muchos Gracias!
