Article says MTV Unplugged gig postponed but not canceled

Postby DirtyMartini on 21 Aug 2007 03:47

Just saw this posted at TPT -- http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainm ... 38204.html

(If someone finds a better source, please do post it as this article is kinda shite. And as always, take this "news" with a grain of salt -- especially considering the other articles that the site links as "news.")

The article starts off mentioning the new SC Anthology (yay), then switches gears to say,
Meanwhile fellow band member guitarist Andy Summers has confirmed the reformed rockers are still planning to honour their Unplugged commitments to MTV -- despite pulling out of a planned acoustic concert at the beginning of July (07).

The group was scheduled to perform their hits before MTV cameras during a tour break in Florida but scrapped the show at the last minute.

And now Summers reveals he and his bandmates just felt they weren't ready for such a show.

He says, "We just didn't have time to really focus on it. We had a few sessions where we casually played through some of the songs, but we didn't put a whole set together.

"In the middle of a tour, it was just one thing too many."
[Edited cuz the article's typos (which don't exactly bode well for the veracity of the article) were really pissing me off.]
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

DM,

If it can help, believe 20% of what you read, 5% of what you hear and 0.5 % of what you read on the Internet"S".

I am sure that the Unplugged will come at the right moment. Everything has magically come true at the right moment.

Yeah, that's why I said to take it with a grain of salt. If I can spot-fix half a dozen typos while on my way to bed, then we're not talking about source that is a bastion of quality.

Just putting the info out there, such as it is.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I'm bet it will still happen....they just want it to kick some serious ass since it'll be recorded for both audio and video releases in the future....Christmas isn't *too* far away...

Is it true you can only win one contest?
I'm not sure weather or not to enter the "Stewart signed sticks" contest, or wait for the Unplugged contest again. :? As much as I'd love the pair of sticks, I'd rather get into the MTV studio for that recording.
I can't find anywhere on tp.com that states you can't win more than one thing (except for the front row draws).
Anyone know for sure?
Dive?

Thanks

It'll happen I'm sure. Sting managed to pull of a good one about 16/17 years ago. Used to have on VHS recording in the days of Vince. He was cool. Maybe it's true and they weren't ready but the time will come. Think positive comrades. 8)

No one knows for sure, and official policy is apparently "Hell, no, you can win as many concerts as luck allows."

What I've unofficially *HEARD* from longtime sting.com members is that -- and it may just be statistics at work, who knows -- is that it's not often you can end up winning more than one contest. So some folks try to choose wisely about what giveaways they enter.

And that's all I know.
