very exciting! can't wait to hear the rest... i actually have butterflies in my stomach imagining what the anticipation of meeting him was like. my cheeks would hurt from smiling at this point.

He sits at the table and the event people say are we ready. He sits and motions me over to him. I set down my SC Vaters and poster and reach out to shake Stewart's hand and I tell him Hi Stewart, my name is Shannon, so nice to finally meet you. He says "Thank you Shannon" (I almost faint after he says that..lol) I told him "I made this for you. I hope you like it" He looks at the poster and says how neat it is and taking a moment to look it over. I mention that I drove from ALB NM to see you today. He says "Wow, YOU DROVE FROM ALB REALLY? with a serious and happy tone to his voice and he smiles at me (Shannon almost giggles nervously and uncontrollably, but catches herself) Say Hi to ALB for me. So you want me to sign something? He grabs a CD and signs it. I said "if you could also sign my poster it would mean alot" At first his PR person says no, STEWART HAVING A HEART OF GOLD TAKES IT, LOOKS FOR A PLACE TO SIGN IT ASKS WHERE DO YOU WANT ME TO SIGN IT? I SAID WHEREVER YOU WOULD LIKE IS FINE. HE SIGNED ON THE PAISTE PIC I PUT ON THERE. I told him THANK YOU THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO ME. I get emotional again and say I Love you. THANK YOU HE SAYS. I AM SHAKING NOW. AGAIN TRYING TO COMPOSE MYSELF. NOT NOW I THINK TO MYSELF. He notices my shirt and what he said was something about Colorado..dont remember that bit much. He was Asking me if I knew where someplace was? I said I honestly don't know.(I am hoping he doesnt think I am a complete idiot for that) He said he knew of people who make shirts like the one I was weaing. I told him PR made this shirt from the forum and sent it to me for today. Then I turn around and the press folks are taking pics of my T shirt and poster with Stewart. Turn back around one more time to say Thank You Stewart, huge smile on my face and he says Thank You Shannon and another handshake...cameras going the while. Then I walk away when the photographers are done and I walk to the back of the room where someone tells me to go downstairs. I walk past this lady who stops me breifly to ask How is Stewart? I reach out and wrap my arms around her and begin to sob uncontrollably on this complete stranger. OH GOD, THIS IS THE HAPPIEST MOST WONDERFUL MOMENT OF MY LIFE. HE IS SO WONDERFUL AND SWEET. SO AWESOME. WE BOTH ARE CRYING NOW AND OTHERS FOLLOW IN SUIT SHEDDING HAPPY TEARS. I go downstairs and exit the building as per directions and immediately after doing so we EQ and Laz and I, get escorted back upstairs for the remainder of the signing. Intially, the woman was not going to let us in. The guy (who I forget his name and who he was with..sorry) said..They are with me. Its ok. We got to stay in back of the drum room in the percussion area for the remainder of the signing catching glances of Stewart signing and looking around. He did look to back of the room and notice me once cuz he smiled at me. I smiled back in appreciation of our moment. continued...

Laz and EQ and I sit in back, and Laz is doing his bongo conga thing and I decide to join in the fun..so we did a bit together. Not too long or too loud so I am not disrespectful to the other signers. Paiste people and Tama and the other reps are there. Then someone else interviewed me and got me playing a bit and someone else came over for an interview. I spoke to all the reps and to Derek..very nice man by the way. I wanted to talk to Jeff Seitz, and pick his brain, I may have who knows. Then they put on ES on the TV and I watch this entirely too much as I know most of the movie by heart, commentary and all. Stewart did a fantastic job on this movie. I am so proud of him. I began to cry again watching when they showed Ian. :cry:

He is truly missed. We love you.

I think we covered everything..if I think of more or if anyone else remembers anything..we will be sure to post it. I hope I made this experience something for you to remember and that I wrote it to capture the emotion of an incredible experience. Like you were really there.

I want to take another moment in closing to Thank Guitar Center, all its staff for a wonderful event, Mike and Fallout, Jeff Seitz, Derek Powers, Erin (demogal) and everyone who was responsible for making the dream of a lifetime come true.
Stewart Copeland...my hero and friend. You are truly a gentleman and amazing talent. I am so very honored to have met you. Thank you for making this the most amazing moment of my life. Everything you have done. Touching peoples hearts with your music, the beautiful creations that you share. Inspiring others to capture the passion you share for music is something that you do beautifully. Thanks for the memories and hope to see you again soon.

I did it. Yeah, thank you everyone for your patience...my poor wrists...therapy...ice, motrin...help. Ouch.

Thank you everyone. I really am so glad you are able to experience the emotion with me. I so wear my heart on my sleeve and this is one of those moments. I am truly honored to share my story with all of you. You know its rare to get to meet your heroes. I am so glad I have and hope when anyone else gets their chance..their experience is just as rewarding and emotional and amazing as mine was.

I will never forget this day.

Great post. I forgot about that blonde girl in the drum department. She was super nice. I remember telling you rigth before Stewart arrived how she was really choked up rigth before she met Willie Nelson.
