JOSE reported 7,9 EARTHQUACKE in PERU (NOW 506 deads)

Postby Jose on 16 Aug 2007 00:58

Wooow.... a long earthquake just happened in Lima.... around 7,6 richter scale... I survived this natural experience as a demolition man

6.45 pm... I was outside my home ( front of it) First, I think me was a bit sick cause my legs move, then all the earth moved like waves... walls, public lights, neighbours shouting, an an strange blue light covered the sky of Lima from the earth to the sky... all communications were collpased... main damages were located in "Pisco" a town of Ica department or state (south of Lima) 70% of houses were destroyed, died corps were put on the main square of Pisco, this city looks like a city destroyed by bombs during the II World War, the statistics 506 deads, 1,500 people hurt in all national territoy ( specially on south coast, highlands in the south of the Andes mountains and north coast) People in Lima viewed strange blue lights during the peak of the Earthquacke, first the sky turning yellow, then red, and finally flashed blue lights covered the sky... the movement of the earthquacke was from down to up and then from sides like we were surfing the earth... some childs saw UFO's on the sky and the lights came from the sea... that's why people thought this cathastrophic experience was the end of the days...

OMG. Hopefully there will be no damage to the people.
Having lived a terrible earthquake in 1980, I can fully sympatize.
If you can be on the Internet, however, communications are still on.
Go stay safe!

I've only ever felt one here in Virginia that was like a 3 or 4 about 8 years ago. It was definitely one of the weirdest things I've ever felt. I couldn't even begin to imagine what one at that scale must feel like. At least you're still able to log on and keep us updated, Jose!

well neighbours outside of their homes, some ladies shouting and crying, men and childs with their puppets... people from big modern buildings outside their homes... all with their cell phones, but it was interrupted...no comunication... all people on avenues taking their bus or taxis...or simply runing... wow the big Earthquake was so long...

at 6.45pm I was in the way to go to gym (near my home) ... but I wait some minutes for helping my baby nephew to get into his mother car... at this moment my legs began to move withot any POLICE rythm... and the earthquake started.... and the car moves like a gel... mom call me she needs me to go to my sister company (into a 5 floor building) for helping her to go out of their office... the earthquake didn't stop... and me walking five blocks to help her..then the earthquake stop....

The Earthquake was happened in all PERU ( Coast, Andean mountains and Amazon Rainforest ) around 1 million and a half of Km2... my brother who lives in USA call my home...all is happilly fine just now... any damaged in my home

thanks for your good desires... We got "2" Giant Earthquackes the first one from around 7,5 and inmedialtely another one of around 7,7 ( both Ritcher scale) with a long time of 2 minutes each one of them... a third one occured lately but was tiny... and 100 replicas but not percibed by common people only by earthquacke equipments... the center of the earthquacke started in the sea south of Lima...5 people were died at other states or province outside Lima... President Alan Garcia made and speech for calm people and announcing the close of school and university classes for tomorrow

Because of phone calls were collapsed, people that tries to communicate their relatives took their cars, bus producing a traffic jam... in spite of the fact I receive inmediately phone calls from USA...in some sides of Lima light are off...and people who lives in the port of "La Punta Callao" and other areas next to sea prefering to spending night at parks... and authorities move people who lives from coast line in prevision of earthquacke replicas this night or a tsunami

Some of my relatives (my brother and his family) who lives in the distric of "La Molina" a residential area surrounded by mountains coming to my home, cause in the distric that I live (another residential area from eastern Lima) is more safest cause isn't surrounded by mountains or sea...we have al services function light, internet, etc... so they stay tonight at home... cause in earthquakes have the possibilities of earthquackes replicas and tsunamis near the coastline, specially at sea port area...

with more news,

Jose,
I'm glad you and your family are OK. I hope the next few days are peaceful and that you do not have strong aftershocks. I've only experienced very minor earthquakes in New York City. They were only about a 2 on the Richter scale. Stay safe and keep in touch!

Glad you are okay. I've lived in Southern California all my life and have been through my share of quakes, but a 7.9 must have been horrible.

Best of luck with everything.
