Hey Stewart!! Another face in the crowd...

Hey Stewart!! Another face in the crowd...

Hey Stewart! If you’re actually reading this I hope to capture your attention for a minute or two.

I’m new here - I came across this website after following some links from one of the Police Tour e-mails I get every few days.

Saw my first Police concert in Hershey last month, and if that show was any indication, I would imagine that in some way the shows are all blending together into one big sea of dancing people by now, so let me put a face on one of the hundreds of thousands (millions?) of fans. My life looks a lot like everyone else’s - wife, mother of two, work full time and spend too much time in the car driving kids around. But that concert made me remember why I have always had all those Police songs on my iPod.

I was 14 when Synchonicity was released. No album had caught my attention quite like that one (when you’re an adolescent, King of Pain is very appealing). I only had a passing knowledge of the Police before then, but after, quickly bought all previous albums and loved each one. The classic hits are great... but I love the dark and humorous ones just as much (Darkness.. one of my favorites). I’m much older now, so I’m no longer trying to get my hands on cassette tapes at the mall or searching for Rolling Stone interviews, hanging posters in my room, and feeling just too young. Now I can travel back to where I grew up and experience the music in person, and even watch footage, see and read a first hand account of the time (loved One Train Later and Everyone Stares).

Now I get it - now I can understand and appreciate the talent, ambition, and the story of three people who traveled an amazing road in life. What a story! That you’ve all maintained the energy and talent for solo projects is amazing. Thanks for sharing that part of your life.

Sorry to ramble - just thank you for giving me the chance to see a Police concert in my lifetime (I’ve seen Sting solo in concert four times, this blew them all away. Why? It was apparent during the concert that although the face of the band may be one thing, the beat and energy originates from the drum set.). Thanks for reminding me that very talented people can exist behind the media package. Above all, thanks for the music!! Beware those teenage girls - some of them grow up into loyal fans

:o

Thank you for your review, Chris.

I love King of Pain.

Tea in the Sahara is one of my favourites too but unfortunatley it's not in their setlist.

Looking back when I saw the Police as a mere teen during the Synch tour, I realize how much I really did not truly appreciate them at the time. Sure, I had a blast at the show, but I didn't really realize what I was seeing at the time.
