West Coast Represent: SC Netter Nutter Meet Up last night

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let those of you interested know that Demogal, Throb and Mtobinjones met last night at the Backstage Cafe in Beverly Hills for the first West Coast meet up.

I was late (but could not miss it) and was identified as a SC fan right away- those tube socks do it every time. Must say, you know you stand out when the tourists in Birkies and socks are pointing and looking at you rockin' tube socks walking down Rodeo Drive

Throb brought his book (the double signer), we checked out the tables filled with Ian paraphernalia and had a few beers and some laughs.

We've made plans (poor demo gal) for Erin to represent us at the in store and for future meetings. It was great to meet other local SC fans, and we're going to try to have a monthly meeting- helps demogal works around the corner, I live close and it's on Throbs way home.

So, hopefully,Demogal will keep us to a schedule and others will join us when they can! Out of towners welcome!

We definitely need to take more pics next time.


[u]On a side note[/u], I was a little sad- Backstage is going thru a remodel (probably needed) but they have taken everything down off the walls and painted them buttercream- and covered the tables with white tablecloths!
Here's hoping we came in the middle- and that once complete, Ian's legacy will remain intact.

But, I'm going to take more people there, and hope it's not changing hands out of the family just because Ian is no longer on this earth...

You do realize that next year, when EVERYBODY is wearing the hot new tube sock styles, that it's going to be all YOUR fault because some people from Iowa saw this trend-setter walking down Rodeo...

Well this place here in town, some kind of college-town chain called American Apparal, has RACKS of the SC athletic shorty-shorts, along with floor to ceiling tube socks area..........

Thanks for the report, mtj. Apparently, if they are are doing work to the Backstage, that is apparently keeping in the spirit of when Ian ran the joint. I understand he was constantly adding things or doing work to it. So, hopefully that means it won't be changing hands.

Anyway, I think the monthly meet up is really cool and I'm sure you'll get to meet some of the cool regulars who hang out there and help keep Ian's spirit alive!

Sorry I couldn't drop in after all my posts about trying to.

I mostly stayed in Glendale and Pasadena for the drum corps event.

We had a great time at BC. I learned so much; the deleted thread, the meaning of boiled eggs, adventures in Boston with Officer Friendly.
Weazel, you missed all the fun.
We definitely must have monthly “meetings” for the West Coast contingent of sc nutters. Demogal is our de facto leader since she lives and works so close to BC. She will also be representing me and mtj at the in store through the magic of digital photography.
By the time the boys make their triumphant return to So Cal the West Coasters will be ready to carry the flag, note my optimism that there has to be more So Cal shows.
So get your tube socks out and we will see you at the next “meeting”.
One final note, the only disappointment was that Stew never showed for his tequila shot. Oh well, we drank it for him.
