Back in the 90's there was the ultimate tribute band...Dread Zeppelin (not sure if they are still around). Just imagine your favourite Zep songs played to a reggae sound/arrangement.
I remember those guys!!! Yeah, they were a lot of fun.
As for Led Zep...hmmm...I'm sheepish to admit I've never really been a fan, personally (I liked Dread Zep better
). I don't have a problem with them going out without Bonzo being there, but that's just one of those person-to-person things that's hard to quantify. I mean, I love the Who - they're in my top five bands and Moonie is my second-favorite drummer ever (behind Stew of course) - but I've had no problem seeing them several times without him (maybe because, of course, there'd be no way for him to _be_ there?) And Zack Starkey actually does a commendable job these days playing Moonie's parts with a worthy abandon.
It's harder for me with bands where the missing members are still alive, _and_ they're calling themselves the same act. I guess that's why the idea of The Police without Sting, Stewart, or Andy would just not work for me at all. I'd have no problem seeing Stewart & Andy performing together with other musicians, but not under the name The Police (and ditto any other combination of the three). Pink Floyd, I saw them several times without Roger because, mostly, I'd go listen to Dave Gilmour on guitar no matter what he's doing, but Roger's presence was absolutely missing from the experience every time--none of the PF shows I saw in '87 or '94 could hold a candle to their set at Live8, for instance, when all 4 of them were together.
(For me, a Floyd reuinion tour is the ONLY thing that could match my fervor for the current Police reuinion.)
