Led Zep reunion in 2008

Postby Kalypso on 09 Aug 2007 17:36

Hola to all and especially to you-know-who.
I bet some among you hoped that Kalypso's plane crashed somewhere and that she would go in a blaze of glory, but here I am, back from my travels in the hot&humid Midwest (guys, how can you STAND to live there in the summer? BTW, Bob Seger and BTO is all you listen on the local radio station, peppered with the occasional Don't Bring Me Down woohooooo. I heard MIAB only ONCE!)

I know the guys are resting, well deserved!

I heard announced on several radio stations in Detroit and Chi-town that apart from Van Halen (We Know That Will Last 15 Minutes) that there is a very serious possibility that Led Zep, with Jason Bonham on drums, will reform in 2008.

What can I say? The P'lice have opened the floodgates of the "Never Again" stadium tours!!!! I bet Page and Plant called each other and said "You know, I think we are really idiots, we are one of the biggest band ever existed, could do much more money than the Police and look we are sitting on our arses doing our sporadic Moroccan and Indian collaborations!".

I really hope they reform; that'd be cool. But don't call it a reunion. Call it revisited, or something. I've ranted this on another thread. So I'll stop there.

Bonzo is gone; so there can never be a Zep reunion. :(

Hey maybe the Beatles will have a "Reunion tour", with Sean Lennon and Dhani Harrison! Would you attend that?

I would. I would rather see 75% of Led Zep than having never seen them. I went to see the Who right (in Frejus, of all places) right after Keith Moon died, and even without Keith, it was the best concert I have ever seen.

And I have gone to see Ringo Starr and the all Stars. Yes. Better than having never seen even 1 Beatle.

A chance to see Page, Plant and Jonesy playing together? Would you miss it? Jason Bonham ain't Bonzo, but he ain't chopped liver either and there is no one better than him to represent his father.

In about three seconds.

Got to see Sean play bass with Cibo Matto one time and he kicks ass. Dhani was awesome on the George Harrison tribute DVD.

It wouldn't be the same, but it would be terrific.

Valid points Dive & Kalypso, but do you still think they should call them "Reunions"?

I'm having trouble with how everyone's using the term so loosely.... :?

I saw Dhani and Olivia Harrison at the RNR Hall of Fame induction and my heart almost stopped. He IS the young version of George, and Dive is right, the Concert for George video is one of the best non-Police DVDs around...I just cannot stop crying when Ringo and Paul play together with Dhani.

Cibo Matto Rules! I know Sean used to date one of them, and I don't know his work too well, but the girl band is excellent.

u bet yer left nut I'd be at all of the above <grin> This is the third set of Zep reunion rumors in the last few years and Plant is yet again denying the rumors as false...I fell for it the first couple of times just out of sheer hope but it's getting to become rather like the Police before they reunited...pretty bloody unlikedly...but then again, the Police reunited <grin>

Yep, there's no replacing Bonzo with...well anybody...including his son. I've heard some of Jason's playing and the kid's got some chops but like you said "revisited" is about all you could call it. Been down this road before so I'll stop here too. 8)

Well...in the biz they call them re-forming. In the case of Led Zep it would be as close to the original as you can get. After all you have high school reunions even if some have died, right?

My all time favorite band Traffic died almost entirely, and even the Who are whittled down to 2 these times. My view is that as long as the music is alive, so is the person who contributed to write and perform it. Even if Bonzo was alive, he could not have played Moby Dick anymore. Just as Sting cannot sing some of the Songs in the Aulde Key.

I've spent parts of my life being a huge Zep freak, and would love to see them.

Robert Plant was pretty clear during his press conference on June 28 that this wasn't even being discussed, and even the proposed 1-off concert for Ahmet Ertegun isn't a sure thing.

It doesn't mean that a tour is completely ruled out, but unless Plant is full of shit (which I don't think is the case), it doesn't seem very likely.

Well, Weasel, the rumors were pretty persistent, according to several Midwestern rock radio stations, and, as the Police tour showed, the Impossible can Become Possible.
I imagine that the issue is the reunion with Jonesy, because Page and Plant have extensively collaborated after Zep and I think Jason will be only too happy to join.
The last Plant Album was absolutely fantastic, so it will be great if it happened. Let's keep our fingers crossed. More Impossible Things have happened.

Plant and Page put on a great show years ago. I've been hearing the same rumors for years as well, but add JP Jones into the mix, and I'm there in a heartbeat.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.
