Any update on the "Police Around the World" DVD?

Postby TarAncalime on 09 Aug 2007 18:34

Thanks Craig for this information...so a certain gossip columnist from NYC really hangs around here too and claimed back in July that "Truth hits everybody" will be out as a single! LOL

We will of course help you in any way to get this stuff released. Hmm, I just wonder why Miles is sitting on his big Police archive like a hen on eggs....please try to convince him otherwise....Perhaps he will change his mind oneday.

Do you happen to know why Miles wasn't a part of The Police's reunion this year?

CRAP, I just realized my elderly LD player only has RCA jack outputs (no S-Vid), so encoding my Around the World LD would be kinda pointless, quality-wise. I *was* hoping to make something that I could give away to forum members until the official release comes about, but now I'm not sure if I'll do it. It just wouldn't look good to my hyper-critical eyes. Still, I might go ahead anyway...

I wish they'd just announce the official release (with the In Japan stuff)!

ANY new material to be released is most welcome, and will quickly be snatched up by us crazy folks....5 studio albums, 1 live double album, 1 greatest hits video DVD, 1 live concert DVD, and 1 super-8 movie DVD is simply not enough material for a band this important. Thanks for the tip Craig, and looking forward to more info in the future...

It's my understanding that copies of Around the World on DVD were amongst the goodies given away at the FC show pre party. Conroy? Kellie? Gina? Y'all were there, right?

I had assumed that the presence of those copies meant that a commercial re-release was on its way. Hmmmm....

Um . . . I remember posters and a bunch of CDs . . . . drumheads . . . more posters . . . I distinctly remember Police CDs and Sting solo CDs, but I do not remember any DVDs. But that doesn't necessarily mean there weren't any . . .

Gina's out of town, but maybe Conroy remembers?
or SamburuSunset?
or Dietmar?
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I certainly didn't see any DVD's of Police Around the World. Maybe someone was giving away copies they'd made themselves.

Yes, there are people who have the equipment to create DVDs from VHSs.
If a format becomes obsolete and the material is not reissued, I do not think it is an illegal practice. Only it won't be as perfect as an official one.

So why would the guys NOT have perfect, digital, original DVDs? The market is ripe. Come on, guys.

It can be downloaded from emule <www.emule-project.net> and but i'm sure you guys already know but it'll never be the same as a brand spanking new copy from the shop in its own pretty little box, where a cut of the money spent goes to people made the thing. That's how it should be but if people ain't seen it then you can get there. I'm pretty sure I first saw it from you tube about a year ago but had a quick look and couldn't find it.

Hope it helps.
