Highlight of 1st leg of 2007 Tour

Postby TheEqualizer on 06 Aug 2007 06:15

Now that the first leg of the 2007 tour is over, I was wondering what the highlight was for all of you. In general, the following stood out for me:

* The Sockii call out

* Stewart posting to say thanks for the Happy Birthday thread and mentioning the Flag in print for the first time

* Stewart confiding in us with his "First Disaster Gig" post

* The Police radio marathon

* The including of the Dead End Job snippet

* The Whisky press conference (so many highlights there)

* The fan club show

* The Foos opening up at Dodger Stadium

* The LueAnn post

* The party bus (I presume)

Which ONE did you think was the highlight?

Of course, I'm sure everyone had a personal moment/ highlight.

For me, it was the whole show in LV, which was the first I saw on this tour. It was my birthday weekend, I had one of my closest friends whom I had not personally seen in 9 years fly out from the east coast to see the show with me, and right before the show, I had one of the best dinners of my life. It was a culmination thing.

The second thing was at the Dodger Stadium show. To see/hear over 50,000 people singing in unison to Walking on the Moon and ELTSDIM (and others) was . . . um . . . erie. Well, maybe not erie, but surely was a sight to see/hear.
There is no bigger gong.

All of the above :!:
For me being at the show the first show May 28th!!! God the crowed was electrified The anticipation of the crowed cheering when the extra security came out. Watching the photographers lining up at the stage to get the first official picture of the Police Live after 23 years I was there!!

I meant to include this but forgot:
* "Virtually" getting to know other Copeland fanatics

As far as the music highlights, for me:
* All of Driven to Tears and When the World
* The guitar of ELTSDIM
* The guitar into of Invisible Sun
* The revised part of Synch II right before "Every single meeting with" and
* (OBVIOUSLY) the percussion in Walking in Your Footsteps, Wrapped Around Your Finger, and King of Pain

A moment that certainly was NOT a highlight was Message in a Bottle at Live Earth (or at least the portions where Kanye was on stage; I didn't mind John Mayer's guitar too much).
There is no bigger gong.

All of the above, with the emphasis on The FC show. It was louder than opening night, and with only 4000 people. Oh ya, and maybe being 2nd row centre had somthing to do with it. :wink:

I don't wanna work, I just wanna bang on the drums all day.

I thought being able to hear Murder By numbers a few times before it was dropped was a highlight, otherwise the 8/1 celebrity packed show at MSG which had an electric atmosphere.

Wow! There are so many highlights. Hmm, here are a few.

* the fan club show (& meeting the infamous Dietmar!)
That show was surreal in sooo many ways.
* opening night The whole show was magical.
* Being in Cleveland for Stewart's birthday
You could tell that it really was special for him and I'm so glad I could
be there.
* NiNa's Police radio marathon -- soooo much fun - would'a thought
listening to the radio would be that much fun.
* "The" post. It was so cool of Stewart to confide in us the way he did.
We totally get him. Screw those who don't!
* His after-birthday post. He loves us!!! :D
* Flag duty at the Hershey show (Thank you Kellie!)
* The whole flag thing. How cool is that? It's our personal link
with The Man. (Mega kudos to Kellie (Dirty Martinii) for her
outrageous organization and coordination skills !!!)
* Meeting all the other SC.netters/ Police fans at the get togethers. You
guys are an amazing bunch of folks and I'm am so lucky to have met
you and look forward to meeting more.

* Watching the collective genius of Sting, Stewart and Andy tear up the
stage night after night! You can tell that they are so clearly loving
this tour and each other.

* And most of all, I get an absolute thrill when I see that mile-wide smile
of Stewart's. His whole face just glows and he looks so absolutely,
supremely happy.

THANK YOU MR. COPELAND :!:
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

show-wise, I have to say Cleveland has been the highlight for me. That was a very special and unique show, to me. I don't know if it was because of the energy and vibe surrounding Stewart during his birthday, but that show really stood out for me - the sound was great, Stewart was really on fire, Sting and Andy sounded great and the crowd was just unbelievable! I loved the audience participation and dancing during that one. The energy was over-the-top - both from the Police AND the Fans.

Generally speaking, the Adventures of the Flag have been a personal highlight. I love watching out for it and spotting it. I love when the bearer gets "the point". I love watching Stewart beam once he spots it. And I love reading everyones' posts post-concert.

This has been one hell of a summer and I can't wait until we can resume the fun in the Fall!

Just getting to hear them play again. That first show in Toronto, seeing the grin on SC's face as he leapt up to the riser and started warming up the gong. Hearing the first notes of Message in a Bottle, feeling the adrenaline rush and being carried away on the tide for the next two hours.

There were so many little moments.

Hearing how things were different the next night. Like most of you, I could easily catch 10-20 shows on the tour. It's fun to read about the shows and find the band connects on such a personal level with so many people.

Thanks so much guys for putting the band back together, and just going for it onstage again. We are having just as much fun with the whole thing as you are.

So many good things to choose from, but it has to be Dallas. It was my true first Police show (I don't count the FC show because it is so unique in and of itself that is has to be in a different category altogether) so there was something magical about it and it is the best sounding boot I've heard so far that proves to me that it was indeed special. But the flag saga would probably be my second favorite.

OMG! Where do I start? This is such a big topic that I'm shaking with my thoughts and memories running around my brain so fast! This may take a while, so after I compose myself I will post! My GOD, this has been a wild trip since the announcement that they were going to play at the Grammy's and then the Whiskey! Okay, I must step away from the computer and pull myself together. This is what this entire tour has done to me, AHHHH!!! And, you all are the best because I KNOW you KNOW what I'm talking about! Later!

Stewart knowing where to look & then spotting the flag is great. He's really taken to it and seems to be having fun with it. The guys really seem to enjoy getting on stage and rocking out with the audience. I've also enjoyed all of the concert reviews and pictures. I've only been able to attend 1 show so far but I hope to attend another one when they swing through the US again.

Too many highlights for me to count, although like Conroy said, Dallas was also special for me and not to be forgotten.

But between that, the Whiskey, Fenway Flag duty, everything else, there's just so much that has made this an amazing year all around. I can't get much more specific than that.

The fan club show, where 4,000 people sounded like 40,000. I will never forget the feeling when the three guys came out on stage and it was perfect. And the feeling of pure joy among all of us who were there.

Then the first official show. Again, those opening notes and the fans going nuts. I was so thrilled and so happy for the Sting, Stewart and Andy. They took a chance and went for it!

The rest of the shows I've seen so far have been an amazing bonus.

Meeting other fans--so glad I found you!

I also have to say the fans on this forum is a highlight all the time :D :D
