Not cruel, just experienced.
I've spent too many years on the internet seeing people pull the same kind of thing, over and over again.
A person appears on the board little more than a week ago, posts like crazy, gets upset when she doesn't get a reponse from Stewart right away, so she turns it all into a drama about herself, hoping THAT will get a response.
All a little too convenient, too, that she claims the same illness as Ian.

There is something wrong with people who fake illness for attention.
Ian is Stewart's brother, a fact our little faker is surely quite aware of, considering "she" is mimicing the same cancer Ian has been battling--and had also been told (by accounts on his messageboard here) that he had "six months to live".
Tragic coincidence? I really think not.
