Holy snappin' arseholes!!

m.t.jones---There's no denying those $$, but I was thinking culturally, not fiscally. To come out and capture people as the Police have after that layoff is just unbelievable. Re: the van tour in '66. Are you referring to your band, or the Beatles, or.....???? I'm interested in what kind of music your band played, whenever your tour was.....

What is this thread title in reference to?

Does it have something to do with the fact the tour promoters knew the fans would be "bending over" no matter what the ticket prices were set at?

In Seattle, when Stingo sang, "Just take a seat, they're always free," I leaned over to my lady and said, "Free's not the word I would use." :)

"We grossed 5 mil in Miami? Let's go out to eat: I'll bring the chef!"
Between y'all I can't focus on the information and numbers, I'm too busy cracking up at things like this and my new exclamation "Holy Snapping Arseholes!"
Somehow you reminded me of a few lines from the old Johnny Dangerously movie:

"You Forrrgin Ice-Holes!"

"You Sonova Beech-in Bastages!"

Classic B films, love em!

As amazing as they sound, I'm a little skeptical of the Chicago numbers. Every time they do the attendance at a Cubs game, it's usually in the 30's or 40's. Am I wrong? Does Wrigley really hold that many bodies? I mean, you can't normally count the field seats, right? :?

Still, though, as Anakin Vader would say: "Impressive. Most Impressive." 8)

If they put chairs on the field and sell 'em, they can count 'em. And they can count the ## of GA tickets sold too!

neon, when I said van tour in 66 to mega tour these days, I didn't mean my tour- I meant you cannot compare a Beatles tour to a Police tour- not an apples to apples comparison.

I wasn't in a band. I.was.lighting.goddess.

oh, and weasel? always right? fuck you weasel.

Back when the tix first went on sale, a bunch of folks speculated that Clear Channel and Best Buy would have first crack at the profits off this tour.

I doubt any of the guys are playing for nickels, but seriously - think about how much it costs to rent these venues, then hire a few dozen people to move the stage around, make sure the lights run properly...and that's before security and all the vendors.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

and no dancers.... I mean, where are the costume changes? Hang on, those bastards must be cutting the overheads to rip the punters off!
F*ck me! No-one tours these days without at least twenty dancers in shiny white tracksuits and an expensive autocue machine.
Right, that's it... I'm hocking my tickets on ebay
And they thought I would only see a gig for the music. pfft.
there are none so blind as those that will not see

Ah, well. Makes sense to me! Having said that, I've given up shoe shopping, have been bringing my lunch to work and generally cutting back on everything so I can spend mega-buckage on tickets to go to shows. These guys are my absolute favorite band and Mr. Copeland is unfuckingbelievable. I'm willing to do it assuming it *is* a one-off tour.

That's pretty much the same scenario for me, too.

At first I'd explain the expeditures to my wife by saying, " It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, honey."

Now I'm saying, "It's a one year-in-a-lifetime thing, honey."
