Is it CHA or JAH (and where is it) ??

Is it CHA or JAH (and where is it) ??

Postby samburusunset on 29 Jul 2007 04:28

There's an ongoing, silly (though amusing) debate on TPT.com over whether Stingo is saying Cha or Jah in Regatta. They've got all kind of arguments for both. I'm in the Cha school. SO, I got the great idea that we could ask Stewart.

STEWART: IS IT CHA OR JAH?

and where'd it go? There's no Cha in the show!
Cute story: Dan/Plutonic over on TPT was wearing a tee with a big "CHA" in Hershey. He was in the third row and the stage was elevated higher since it was in a stadium. Dan said Sting saw his shirt and looked at him with this, "There's no Cha, dude" look. He said Andy took some pity on him and gave him a couple of little quiet cha's.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

For the past 20 some odd years, I've been going "CHA," but hell knows if I've been right

He can just add the letter "I" to his shirt - "CHAI". And then head on over to Starbuck's.

Or pronounce it a la Mike Myers a la Wayne of Wayne and Garth.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Haha, DM, for some reason that reminds me of something I haven't said in decades...like doi! Perhaps its the same intonation...<giggle>

Well whatever it's supposed to be (having been heavily into reggae never did strike me as 'jah'...I don't see Stingo channeling Selassie) it is CHA after the TPT thingy, I think Plutonic is making CHA bracelets for the NY shows! So CHA it is & CHA it shall be <grin>

Also, don't forget that Falco was also a user of the "cha" is Der Komissar, which also appears in the English version! <giggles> CHA CHA CHA CHA.......CHA CHA CHA CHA!

Didn't CHA start as a mike-check thing one of the crew used to do, which Stingo then used himself? :?
Anyways, Jah is rastafarian for God. [lights doobie]

:P
I don't wanna work, I just wanna bang on the drums all day.

I always wondered. (love this thread)
Seems Cha. Seems unique to them. But I also remember hearing Cha on a Beatles tune but can't remember the song. I was like...THERE IT IS!

I love the CHA! Like the rest of the song Reggatta it seems a way to say something without saying anything. Nonsense meaningified. To me it means Yay or AGGH or both.

Not to change the subject but...IS REGGATTA de BLANC only nonsense syllables or is there words and meaning? This seems the perfect place to ask. No new thread for this, sorry...Im shy since I can't get my avatar working.
I wish I never woke up this morning, life was easy when it was boring.

Actually, regarding nonsense lyrics. what has always been confusing to me is I am the Walrus. I always thought it was "coo coo ka choo." But, I though I saw something "official" that says the lyrics are "goo goo ga joob," which to me it really does not sound like.

Hey!! I want a CHA bracelet...I´ll have to email ol´Pluto when I get back.

Did Andy ever know that he´s my hero? He´s everything I wish I could be? Oh, he is the wiiiiiind beneath my wiiiiiiings....

OK, I´ll stop with the Bette Midler, but Andy is just racking up more cool points every day in my book....
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!
