That's cool. In the alternative, I figure there may be a considerable amount of SCnetters going to LA for this event. How would you feel about us coordinating a get together in LA (maybe at the Backstage Cafe) for a flag signing with the agreement that the flag not be taken to the actual event? Or has everyone who expects to be at the show already signed the flag, given the number of LA area shows already played?

Let me think about this one, EQ cuz I still get hit with the precedent problem.

My priority right now is to take care of the arrangements for the tour, so that stuff comes first. But let me think on this one a bit, and I'll let you know.

Unless I'm mistaken, the last show before the GC event is the Giants Stadium show on August 5, 2007. The next show after is in Stockholm on August 29, 2007. I'm not sure how long it would take to express something to Sweden from LA. If you think that this is cutting things too close, I don't have a problem with skipping an LA flag signing. actually, I'm more concerned with the precendence thing.

I am down for whatever. I realize that DM has taken on a HUGE responsibility in this.

that being said, I think we (the signature-less LA continegent) could help pay for the fedex bill to sweden to make sure it got there safe & sound. it usually takes 2 days, maybe 3 days max to get something from LA to major metros in europe. i realize that DM has not only put in an extraordinary amount of TIME but also MONEY in getting this organized.

(here's to hoping that they come back to LA on tour anyway!)

I haven't signed the Flag either, but would love to. I'm also trying to attend the GC event. Love the 'covert' Backstage Flag appearance idea. However, having said that, I would not want to jeapordize the Flag's mission in any way. If there's another opportunity on the west coast for me to sign it, great. Otherwise, I'd be perfectly happy meeting Stewart and maybe talking about the flag with him!

Sorry, kids, but I'm going to have to turn this idea down. Getting the Flag to Sweden is the least of the worries.

There are dozens of cities that the Flag can't make and there are hundreds of people who won't get to sign it. It's simply the luck of the draw. We've done the best that we can. I like to think Stewart knows that.

Hopefully the tour will swing westward again in the fall.

DM - I'd like to volunteer for any West Coast (from San Diego to Seattle and maybe even LV and Phoenix type places) second leg shows that get scheduled. I'm sure I'll be at most/all of them. I'm in Cali right smack dab in the middle of LA and SF.

FYI to all: because of this week's Police-alooza, etc., I'm behind on Flag emails. Know that I've gotten them and will reply soon, but the logistics for existing tour dates takes priority so be patient.

I would be honored to be a Flag-Bearer of Copelandia for any future Los Angeles shows. I will have to figure out a way to tell my wife I must see The Police again because the needs of the flag outweigh the needs of the many or the one but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

I must admit that I didn't follow this thread at all because I was very busy arranging my own tickets, hotels, flights etc... and didn't follow the flag history...

but now almost everything is in place

I've just bought Twickenham 8 tickets (A2, 2nd row - that's close as I will ever get) - if that's an improvement on daftart then I'm volunteering for the flag

I've also got standing tickets for both Antwerpen and the Vienna show - where it's possible to get close to the stage. I guess I would try when holding the flag...

don't know how you're organizing all this, I just wanted you to have all options

I've also got a Pelouse d'or ticket for Paris 30 - this again means: close to the stage

(the other tickets are not that good (Amsterdam, Paris 29, Munich, Mannheim, Düsseldorf...)

I can't deal with new Flag logistics until next week, but I will email you then to see how we can make arrangements. It would be especially great to get the Flag to the Antwerpen and Vienna shows if I can find a way to get it transported between locations. Thank you!
