Bienvenue à Montréal

"repetition of "Ne me Quitte Pas" during So Lonely on the first night. Another reason to find and cherish a bootleg. "

It's exactly as Hannaha said during the Cleveland radio marthon. Sting thinks he's Nina Simone. She recorded Ne me quitte pas as well.

Funny how some little off-handed joke like that just rings truer and truer.

Sting has a voice that is the opposite of Nina Simone's, but nonetheless....

I can't remember what exactly prompted Hannaha to say it. Maybe it was the "jazz vocal stylings" in some of his solo work.

Sting may think he's Nina Simone and his jazz vocal stylings may be a bit over the top sometimes, but I honestly love J'aurais Toujours Faim De Toi and singing along with it in French!

Je n’ai aucun désir
Tu as ravagé mon coeur
Et moi, j’ai bu ton sang

Mais non pouvons faire ce que nous voulons
J’aurais toujours faim de toi

I love Jaurais too. I translated it into English for a highschool French paper. I loved getting credit for listening to the police.

I even translated it into Italian (and it fits with the rhyming too!)

"Oh you romance language people all think you're so hot"
-quote overheard from 10th grader in German class who was frustrated by the um "lack of musicality" in the language. With apologies to Phaty of course.

Someone, somewhere, should compile all of the Sting nicknames here: Stingo, Your Stingship, The Lute Bard, etc.

I'm laughing so hard I'm crying!

Yeah, but was it in German? The only Brecht tune I know is in English--Pirate Jenny (why would I like that, I wonder?), which coincidently was also recorded by Nina Simone.

"Mack the Knife", in English, I believe, on Broadway (?). But in theory he *could* have sung it in German, so that counts, right?

Now we've come full circle in the thread!

Time to go round again then:

Sorry about all the thread jacking going on here, Montreal people. Why don't you post some more "holy Crap" reports already to shut us the fuck up?
