Maybe Leroy Coolbreeze spirit is traveling with the flag...

I had a dear one who died of melanoma and contribute to one charity already: it would be great for me to contribute to this too, even if I will most likely not be a flag-bearer, and so I will have to pull the numbers out of my hat!

Kalypso, people wouldn't have to be a Flag-Bearer or sign the Flag to participate, of course. Anyone can. You can choose a section of the tour to "sponsor" or just make up a number. Whatever you like.

I don't know if it could truly be called the Leroy Coolbreeze "Fund" (since we're making a donation, not starting an organization), but I love the idea of making the donations in Leroy's "name." Lovely.

Keep up the great thoughts, folks. And if anyone wants to volunteer to be a point person on this, please do let me know.

Thank you, everyone.

Volunteering myself is a bit of a weakness of mine... *sigh*... but if you need someone, holler, like I said I'd be happy to try to set something up on the web to make things easy for folks to track. Though if others want to jump on board please do, I think we could use several folks to work together on how best to organize efforts.

Sockii, I'll be utilizing you and bella for that other flag project/pictures/web stuff we had discussed, so I wouldn't want to overload you. (I just don't want to bring up too many things on the board at once.)

As this goes, I think we would just need someone to be a point person with Live4Life -- to make some calls, find out how we can set up a particular Leroy Coolbreeze account, find out how donations to it can be made, and be responsible for reporting back to the forum with the appropriate info. This bit shouldn't be too terribly complicated (I hope).

Sounds good! We'll get it all sorted.

Paypal is the best way, believe me. The money goes straight to the volunteer and can be collected and sent to the Charity.

That's just what I was thinking Kalypso. Paypal is used universally and the easiest way to go.

...not to mention avoiding checks in the mail and all that this entails outside U.S. and Canada.

As I've said to you earlier, this is the most wonderful idea! And I think Live4Life, with the contribution being made in Ian's memory is both beautiful and appropriate. It will be an honor for me to participate.

Please let me know if there's any way I can a lend my longtime fundraiser skills to help out.

This is a beautiful thing, Kel. I'm so proud to call you my friend!

I would totally support this (lost my father to lung cancer 4 years ago) and I love the PayPal suggestion!

I agree that Paypal is probably the best way to go. No checks and it's international. Use me and abuse me, Kel :) I'd be glad to assist.

Rock on. As someone with an actual useful background (and cuz you're just inherently fabulous), you've just got yourself a job, babydoll.

SuperCat, would you be able to handle this once school starts?

SS, perhaps you might be able to assist Nancy if she needs it?

PayPal question, tho -- do you guys mean sending money to one person via PayPal who then writes a check? I don't know. Much as I love you guys, I can't imagine many people feeling comfortable enough sending money to one of us. Whereas sending money directly to L4L guarantees that the money gets to the organization itself.

Whereas setting up a particular account with L4L means that the money goes straight to them and no one has to worry about trusting a random forum stranger.

Or do you guys mean asking L4L if people can PayPal them directly?
