Childhood Police Lyric Mishearings

Postby Police Boy on 24 Jul 2007 01:52

I hate to admit this one, but intially on Every Breath I thought the:

"I'll be watching you" was "Probably what you knew" - that's bad.

I still don't know the Canary in a Coalmine lyric around:

"You say you want to spend the winter in ..........., you so afraid to catch a dose of influenza"

Next to You was:

"Walking on two, all I want is something next to you"

I think it's a big skiing place right? That's why the person in the song is so afraid to catch a dose of influenza because it's probably damn cold there!

Right? GIO? Help! We're sooo uncultured!

BTW..I still think Sting says 'Canary in a Coma' on the record and they just changed the printing to Coalmine. Right? :D

Used to also think...

"I'm a F**kin Disaster, I'm a Demolition Man."

Well I'm sure one of Italian members could clarify this, but I always thought the firenza/influenza things was that the person wanted to spend the winter in Italy where its warmer and drier because they were afraid of catching a dose of influenza in England.

It's a misspelling of FIRENZE, I am sure he knows how to spell it now that he lives in Il Palagio.
(Besides Firenze does not rhyme with influenza)

I forgot the best ones:

"Well we hated our aunts
And we messed in our pants"

(The real lyric goes "Well we ate with our hands"... or is it the opposite?)

"This play is good but his corpses do stink
Berate a girl, hot and sweet
A military maiden look to me"

"But it's the wrecker, it can fail ya"

-from "Spirits in the Automotive World"

I think it's really

"But it's the rhetoric of failure" right?
